ValadezRichard2012Brown County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies were called to a domestic disturbance in the Indian Creek area that ended with a man being jailed for deadly conduct after firing a weapon in the direction of his family.

According to BCSO Captain Tony Aaron, the disturbance started on Friday night at the family residence near the community of Indian Creek south of Brownwood.  When the wife returned home after picking up the couple’s three kids, her husband was very agitated and had locked the family out of the house, according to Aaron.  The wife attempted to talk to the husband from outside, during the pouring rain, and at some point, the man fired a weapon at the door, Aaron said.  The wife then left taking the kids elsewhere for the night and called law enforcement.

Around midnight, BCSO officers went to the residence during the rain Friday night and were unable to make contact with the man, said Aaron.  They obtained a warrant and returned to the residence Monday around 8:00am.  Speaking to the man by phone, they were still unable to get him to come out of the house and had to shoot gas canisters into the home, according to Aaron.  Before coming out of the house, a shot was fired from inside the house, which the suspect stated was accidental, possibly caused from the surprise of the gas canisters entering through the windows, stated Aaron.

The suspect, Richard Valadez, was arrested for deadly conduct.

After approximately 2 hours after the situation began, it was over without injuries according to Aaron.

“After two hours, we were able to get him out,” said Aaron.  “It could have gone south at anytime, but in the end it came out pretty well.”
