Funeral services for Loy Miller, age 84, of Zephyr, will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Medley and Bill Slaymaker officiating.  Interment will follow in the Zephyr Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Mr. Miller passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 in Brownwood, TX.

Loy was born on June 10, 1931 in DeLeon, Texas to Charles and Sadie (Nance) Miller.  He graduated from Comyn High School in 1948; and married Nelsie Pilcher in 1951 in De Leon, TX.  Loy went to work for Potters Industries in a career that spanned 33 years.

Loy was always active in farming and ranching.  He enjoyed raising and training border collies and even had a state champion.  Later he went into raising Boer Goats.  Loy served on the Zephyr ISD school board for 18 years and the Zephyr Water Supply board.  He was also an active member of the Zephyr United Methodist Church.

Loy is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Nelsie of Zephyr; three children, Denise Bell and husband Larry of Early, Stephen Miller and wife Tammy of Lake Jackson and Terry Miller and wife Patti of Dublin; eight grandchildren, Josh Ripley and wife Wendy, Chris Ripley and Rachel Butler, Slaten Miller and wife Coe, Callen Miller and fiancée Aubrey, Landen Miller and wife Jacy, Paxton Miller, Haley Miller and fiancé Brandon and Tommy Bell and wife Janie; five great-grandchildren, Norah, Lincoln, Anniston, Thomas and Timothy; a sister, Floy Clinton of Azle and numerous cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandchild, Corey Miller, and a son-in-law, Bob Ripley.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Zephyr United Methodist Church, PO Box 764, Zephyr, TX, 76890.
