Funeral services for Lonnie Joe Whorton, age 75, of Rising Star, Texas will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Heartland Funeral Home In Early. Interment will follow in the Greenleaf Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Friday at the Funeral Home. Mr. Whorton Passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2018 at his residence.
Lonnie was born on March 16, 1943 in Brownwood, Texas to W.A. and Bernice Connally Whorton. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was married to Ruby Taylor in 1962. During his working years, Lonnie was employed by General Dynamics. After retirement, he returned to Brownwood where he enjoyed his time playing the guitar. Lonnie shared this talent at many nursing homes in the Brownwood area.
Survivors include his wife Ruby Whorton of Rising Star, Texas; two daughters Jackie Pack and husband David of Princeton, Minnesota, Angela Willis and husband David of Alvarado, Texas; grandchildren Miranda Smothers, Samantha Willis, Destinee Pack, Haze Pack and Delbert Willis; 10 great grandchildren and one nephew Lonnie Whorton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Deanna Whorton.
