Visitation for Lola Stark, formerly of Brownwood, will be held this Friday, January 3, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Saturday at Davis-Morris with burial to follow at Eastlawn Cemetery.
Born in the Arkansas Ozarks near Fayetteville, Lola Margaret Chapman entered this world as the daughter of Dr. Herman Chapman and Mrs. Ethel Chapman. Lola grew up with a love of nature and always spoke fondly of the majestic trees that surrounded her mountaintop home.
While visiting an aunt in Brownwood, Texas, Lola met the love of her life at a church service. His name was Arlice Clyde Stark, and they married on March 15, 1951. They had been happily married for 53 years when Arlice departed this world in December 2004.
Lola spent the last four-and-one-half years of her life near her family in Charlotte, NC, where she passed peacefully on December 30, 2013.
Lola is survived by Linda Ivey of Abilene, TX, Delores Stark, Walter and Lora Schmalstieg Jr. and Aurelia Schmalstieg of Charlotte, NC and Walter Schmalstieg III of Dallas, TX.
