A time to say goodbye to our wife, mother, and friend Loeta Carlina Torrez (Wheaty), age 74, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:00 p.m. October 25 , 2010 at the Milton Avenue Baptist Church in Brownwood with John Villareal officiating, interment to follow in Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of Davis Morris Funeral Home. A dinner will be served after services at the church new building for friends and family to come and enjoy celebrating Loeta’s homecoming with The Lord and her family already passed.
Loeta was born on February 22, 1936 in Kansas City, Kansas to Charles and Doris (Ranner) Moss. She passed away Saturday October 23, 2010 at home with her children and family.
Loeta was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and loved her son-in-laws dearly. Loeta never met a stranger, would do anything to help a anyone, she loved to crochet and made baby blankets for many in the community. She was employed as the food service supervisor in several local nursing homes but went to work as a drapery seamstress upon moving to Brownwood and she shared her knowledge in making drapery’s with her sister-in-laws. She married Jesse Torrez in 1974 in Brownwood. Her children were fortunate and blessed to have her at home her last few months loving and laughing while sharing happy childhood memories while enjoying her love in their lives again. She instilled in her children the importance of hardwork, respect, dependability and to be loving and caring adults who could make a difference in life no matter what it brings them. She was a blessing and joy to everyone who knew her and will be dearly missed.
She will be presented in her last days at Milton Avenue Baptist Church where she attended services in her last months, saying it was nice and her happy place. Loeta is survived by her husband Jesse Torrez of Brownwood; a son, Charlie Valadez and Moyorie Starkey; daughters, Dee Dee Villalpando and husband Roy, and Marlyn Salazar and husband Cecil, Aurthor Torrez and wife Mary, Arcina Cardenas and husband Rudy, and Dorothy Torrez; along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Larry Moss; three sisters, Mary, Fern and Dot; daughter-in-law, Terry Valadez; and granddaughter Kaci Valadez
