Brownwood News – Brownwood Police have arrested and charged three men in connection with the burglary of the Brownwood High School which occurred during the night of Sunday, October 14th, 2018.
Christian Charles Carey, 17, of Brownwood, was arrested on Tuesday, October 16th and booked into the Brown County Jail. He was charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (Burglary of a Building) which is a 3rd Degree Felony.
Aaron Lee Tolbert, 20, of Comanche, was arrested on Wednesday, October 17th by the Comanche Police Department and booked into the Brown County Jail. He was charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (Burglary of a Building) which is a 3rd Degree Felony.
Victor Aaron Rodriguez III, 20, of Brownwood, was arrested on Wednesday, October 17th. He was charged with:
- Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (Burglary of a Building), 3rd Degree Felony
- Tampering With or Fabricating Evidence, 3rd Degree Felony
- Possession of a Dangerous Drug, Class A Misdemeanor
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 3, Under 28 grams, Class A Misdemeanor
At approximately 10:30am on Wednesday, October 17th, Brownwood Police Detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in the 3600 block 2nd Street. Rodriguez was arrested at that time without incident. Property stolen from the High School was recovered at this residence as well as one other residence in Brownwood.
On Monday, October 15th, Brownwood Police released surveillance photos of the suspects on social media for assistance in identifying the suspects. Within hours, numerous tips were received leading to the identification of the three suspects.
“Once again the Brownwood community has come forward to assist in solving a significant crime in our community,” said Chief Terry Nichols. “Our Detectives and School Resource Officers have been working day and night on this investigation and we are happy these suspects have been identified and apprehended.”
Dr. Joe Young, Superintendent for Brownwood Independent School District added, “Brownwood Pride is more than just a saying. This community provides great facilities, supplies, and equipment for its schools.
When those resources were vandalized and taken, the community and law enforcement once again stepped up and made it clear this won’t be tolerated. Thanks to those who cared enough to give the tips to solve these crimes and the officers for making the arrests.”
