DARE2010

Each year our 5th Students at Brownwood Intermediate School participate in the annual DARE program.  This program,  Drug  Abuse  Prevention  Education, is a an exciting, police officer led program that teaches kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence. Our Brownwood Police Officers teach a series of classroom lessons that show our fifth graders how to resist peer pressure and live productive, drug, and violence-free lives.

Every year the DARE participants write an essay about what they learned in DARE and write a commitment to stay drug-free and violence-free. The Officers read all essays and select a winner from each team.

Winners are:

  • High Fives – Alexis Brown
  • Brainy Bunch – Emily Salazar
  • Top Cats – Abigail Tristin

BISwould like to thank Officer Chandra Means, Detective James Fuller, and Sergeant Mitch Slaymaker for all they do for our students, our school, and our community!
