After attending several tournaments this past month, students at Heart of Texas Martial Arts and their instructor Tony Welker brought home several medals and titles from their competitions.

Several students at HOT Martial Arts competed on Tuesday, December 11th, bringing home more championship titles and medals.  Four of Welker’s students qualified to compete at the Amateur Organization of Karate’s (A.O.K) state championships and two of these qualified for the Texas Karate Organization’s State Championships.

Results of these competitions were:

KT Happney – 1st  Sparring, AOK)

Xavier Martinez – 3rd Forms and 3rd Sparring, AOK

Quaylen Lykes – 1st Sparring, TKO; 1st forms, TKO State Champion; 2nd Sparring, AOK; and 3rd Forms, AOK
Chaeil Stalcup – 1st Sparring, TKO; 1st Forms, TKO State Champion; and 3rd Sparring, AOK

Christy Ludwick_RandyTimmonsThe weekend of December 15th at the North American Grappling Association Worlds Competition in Dallas, Christy Ludwick won double gold in the GI and No GI Competitions.  Randy Timmons was also successful in taking home double gold in the GI and No GI competitions.

According to Welker, this tournament was a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu style tournament which looks similar to wrestling.  Pictured left are Ludwick and Timmons with their gold medals.
