Written by Ben Cox – Alternative health treatments once only available after a two to three hour car ride are being offered in a clinic tucked neatly into a business park in Early.

Innovation Wellness offers several treatments for everyday aches and pains, as well as more focused issues. From light beds, to compression therapy and beyond, there is something to treat almost anything that makes you say ouch.

The health spa offers two kinds of light beds that treat different things. The Vitamin D bed offers a boost in Vitamin D production. This bed provides a six minute maximum session, focusing UVB rays to assist the immune system.

The other light bed is an LED based system that “emits red and near infrared light and the purpose of that is to decrease inflammation” according to Marketing Manager Jakayli Coppic. Low Level Light Therapy is similar to laser therapy, but treats “the entire body in 12 minutes” versus spot treatments. Wrinkles, stretch marks, fibromyalgia, acne and inflammation are all treated with this bed.

Compression Therapy is another treatment the spa offers, and it is like an automated massage that is used by clients to treat sore muscles and other minor aches and pains.

The Cryo Therapy treatment is what Innovative Wellness is known for. The treatment look like a tanning bed stood up on end, and immerses the user 300 degrees below zero temperatures for up to three minutes. The Cryo Therapy “sends your body into preservation, or fight or flight, mode.” This draws your blood into your core and “activates the body’s cleansing and filtering systems which fills the blood with endorphins and adrenaline”, according to Coppic.

The clinic’s biggest treatment is in a room all by itself, and looks like a cross between a giant jellybean and an alien space ship. 900 pounds of Epsom salts in 12 inches of water allow the user to float, allowing for spinal decompression. The Float Pod, or sensory deprivation chamber, is used by those dealing with PTSD, migraine sufferers, and others who need a way to escape the demands of modern life. Lights can be turned off, music can be listened to or not, allowing the user to feel totally weightless. The nearest float pod treatment is in Austin.
