Ronald E. Johnson, Superintendent of Paradigm Accelerated Charter School, was recently elected to sit on the prestigious Executive Committee of the Texas Charter School Association (TCSA). At the annual meeting held in Austin, TCSA delegates gathered to elect committee members and discuss strategy for expanding, improving and protecting the 460 Texas charter school campuses.
Election of Dr. Johnson reflects his influence on the educational choice movement. In 1997, his school in Dublin was recognized in USA Today as one of the top 58 effective programs for recovering at-risk teenagers. In 2007, The National Center For Educational Reform recognized Dr. Johnson among two Texans selected as Educational Entrepreneur Heroes. He is a frequent speaker at educational and judicial conferences on behalf of fatherless and father-challenged teenagers. Tate Publishers recently released Dr. Johnson’s latest book, Teaching Eagles To Soar…Guidance and Counseling For A Fatherless Generation. In 2009, Dr. Johnson compiled a 1300 page Campus Operations Manual that provides A to Z guidance for setting up and operating one-room alternative schools of choice for grades 8-12.The Texas Charter School Association is gaining national attention because of the aggressive and professional manner in which TCSA advocates for school choice in communities affected by demographic shifts in the nuclear family, ethnic diversity, and state and federal education policies. Dr. Johnson is particularly concerned about the “dangerous trend to accept international curriculum standards, federal government mandates, and efforts to unionize charter schools.” Election to the TCSA Executive Committee will provide a high profile platform from which Dr. Johnson can continue his history of enhancing educational choice. He currently is superintendent over charter school campuses in Comanche, Early, Dublin and Wallis.
