Written by Ben Cox – Sarah Musgrove appears to be one of the many young mothers of Brownwood at first glance despite her blue hair, but after speaking with her you learn that she has a not so closely guarded secret. Another life, as it were, under the guise of Kadee Carder, author of four published novels geared for teens.
Kadee, as we will refer to Musgrove for the rest of this article, is promoting the latest of her novels, “Here Be Dragons,” which is a continuation of characters from her Insurrection trilogy. Published as e-books by the Clean Reads company, all four novels are available for the same price a family of four will spend on pizza for dinner.
Available exclusively as e-books with the exception of “Incomplete,” the 2nd novel in the series, the books follow the main character, Saylor, and her friends after a disaster wipes out technology.
Kadee says “you find time to do the things you love,” when asked how she manages to squeeze in writing her novels while raising a family.
“Any time of day! On the treadmill at the gym, typing on my phone,” she explained. “The notes on my phone are ridiculous, there was one that was 1000 words!”
“I’ve always loved stories. Telling stories, and watching stories, that’s always been a big passion of mine. Theater, art, all of it,” Kadee says when asked if this is something she’s been interested in for a while. “The writing of this series began after I got my Masters in Creative Writing. ‘Insurrection,’ the first book, was my thesis. Writing has been my outlet, and my way to deal with life.”
Science fiction, romance, facing personal demons, and other issues relative to the teen (or young at heart) reader are present in the series. “The middle school girl, the high school girl… they’ve got so many things to overcome and I just want to encourage all of my readers. I want people to know they can rise above and be more than they imagined if they will face their fears and do the hard thing.”
Kadee’s books are for sale through Amazon, as well as though her website. As a thank you to purchasers of her books, a 60 page inspirational book is free to subscribers to her email list.
To promote “Here Be Dragons,” which has themes revolving around strength, Kadee is giving a work out guide with proof of purchase of the book. The guide was created by certified local professional trainer Krista Johnson of Fit By Faith.
