McDanielSmAn unusual selection as most stats on six-man football are so high compared to 11-man games, Abilene Reporter News decided to recognize the efforts and talent of their Big Country Player of the Week, Tyler “Curls” McDaniel, Brownwood Victory Life Academy’s six-man spreadback.

An article from the Abilene Reporter News states “Once or twice a season, however, a six-man player will produce numbers so astounding, that even the biggest six-man critic will grudgingly do a double-take.”

McDaniel is a 6’ 1”, 170-pound junior who rushed for 301 yards and scored 5 touchdowns in just 22 carries in VLA’s 103-67 win over Denton Calvary.  He was 22 out of 33 passing for 395 yards and 9 touchdowns.   He kept adding stats with 105 yards on five kickoff returns, one of which was a 66-yard return for another score.  801 all purpose yards and a direct part in 15 touchdowns, and that’s not all…he got 11 tackles, 9 were solos.

All of this caused McDaniel to be noticed and earn the title of the Player of the Week.

The Warriors average rushing per game is 235 yards and passing average is 212 yards a game, 447 Total Offense.  The Warriors are averaging 57.9 points per game and have recovered +9 turnovers this season. The next District game is Friday night at home hosting Lubbock Christ the King at 7:30pm.
