Brownwood News – It may seem like an unusual pairing: professional wrestling and domestic violence awareness, but Lisa Caldwell with the ARK Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Shelter is quick to point out a distinct difference.
“There’s professional wrestling for sport and entertainment and there’s the very real and wrong violence that happens at home, the two are completely different,” she explained. It is the hope of the ARK to raise money through the exhibition match for the services the shelter provides to Brown, Coleman, and Comanche counties. Members of the Texas All-Star Wrestling team are excited to participate in the event to not only raise funds, but also bring awareness to domestic violence.
The ARK and Bruner Toyota have teamed up with Brownwood High School to present the family friendly event, titled “Battle for the Belt,” on Saturday December 8th at the Brownwood High School Gymnasium located at 2100 Slayden. Doors open at 6 p.m. and bell time for the first match is at 7 p.m. The live wrestling matches are promised to be packed with action. Photo opportunities will be available with select wrestlers during Intermission. The ARK will be selling snacks at the concession stand to help raise money for the shelter.
Bruner Toyota will also host a “Meet and Greet” on the day of the event from 11 a.m. to noon.
All tickets at the door will be sold for $15. Advance tickets for only $12 are on sale now at The ARK (325) 643-2699, at their administration office at 2900 Coggin Avenue in Brownwood.
