The Brownwood Lions swept pool play in the Division II 7-on-7 state football tournament Thursday in College Station.
The defending state champion Lions took out Salado (35-27), Anahuac (35-7) and Aubrey (24-13) in Pool D on Thursday sending them to Friday’s championship bracket. Lions 7-on-7 coach Brad Jetton said that they will play Wellington in the first game of the bracket at 8am on Friday.
The Bangs Dragons began play in the consolation bracket after losing two of their pool play games on Thursday. The Dragons played Kaufman (33-14), Lindale (34-31), and Taft (42-35). The Dragons won round 1 of the consolation bracket which began play on Thursday by defeating Decatur 27-18. Consolation play will continue on Friday.
The Division II State 7-on-7 Championship Game will be played at Kyle Field at 2:15 p.m.
Consolation Championship Game will be played at approximately 1:15 p.m. at Kyle Field.

Stephens completed passes to Cole Gordon, Humeniuk and Howey with Isaiah Salazar making touchdown, failed conversion.

Humeniuk intercepted Aubrey’s First series of second half. Horton completes long pass
Garret Kemp and Horton were instrumental in stopping Aubrey along with rest of strong defense team
