The Brownwood Lions defeated Lubbock Cooper Thursday 14-6 in game one the Region I-3A semifinal playoff series.
The Lion’s Vance McShan pitched more than 4 innings with a solid performance before being hit in the face by a Lubbock Cooper line drive early in the 5th. He was taken out of the game for X-rays.
Brownwood’s Dillon Ellis hit a fifth-inning grand slam homer giving the Lions’ a big lead and helping to secure the win.
The Lions had 14 runs on 11 hits with 1 error.
The Lions go 26-8 on the season as they look to play Lubbock Cooper in game 2 on Friday, 1:30pm at McMurry’s Walt Driggers Field in Abilene.
