The Brownwood Lions football team played in their second scrimmage of the year on Thursday facing the 4A Canyon Eagles at Lowery Field in Lubbock. The Lions showed fans a small preview of the year to come.
The two teams played one live quarter during the scrimmage with the Lions coming out on top. Running back Stehl Ratliff had over 100 yards rushing during the quarter. The Lions scored 21 to Canyon’s 7 during the live quarter.
The Lions are now looking to next week as school starts and high school football season kicks into high gear. Brownwood will introduce the football team and other fall sports participants on Tuesday, August 24th at the annual “Meet the Lions” at Gordon Wood Stadium. The varsity Lions football team will then travel to Gatesville on Friday, August 27th for their first game of the season.
