IMG_7807As the Brownwood Lions get set to meet Fort Worth All Saints, Coach Chuck Howard is excited for his first regular season game as head coach.

According to Howard, the team is ready and plans to win on Friday, not measuring anything against last year’s defeat from All Saints.

“We absolutely prepare and plan to win every game,” said Howard.  “Scores from previous seasons are not measuring sticks for future games.  All Saints is talented and will present a tremendous challenge but I have a great deal of belief and faith in our players.”

As for leading the team into his first game as head coach, Howard stated that he is excited to play the game at home.

“There is not a more exciting atmosphere to play in than Gordon Wood,” Howard said.

After two scrimmages, Howard is pleased with his team although he had earlier stated that they had a few kinks to work out.

“There are always going to be ‘kinks’ to be worked out after each game.  Our kids are working hard and improving on a daily basis,” he said.  “We are looking forward to the game Friday.

As far as the health of the team, Howard stated that they are overall pretty healthy.

“We are holding Braxton Kilgo out for at least two weeks,” said Howard, explaining that Kilgo recently suffered a grade 1 shoulder separation.  “Kaimon Ontiveros and Austin Chick, who have not played defensively in either scrimmage, will hopefully be ready to go on Friday.  Other than that we are healthy.”

The Brownwood Lions will take on Fort Worth All Saints Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Gordon Wood Stadium.  The public is encouraged to come out to Gordon Wood Stadium and show support for Coach Howard and his 2013 Lions.  Let’s make some noise and continue the tradition of Brownwood Lions football!
