The Division II 7-on-7 football defending champion Brownwood Lions qualified for the state tournament Saturday in pool play at the Tarleton state qualifying tournament in Stephenville.
Brownwood posted wins over Troy (33-18), Prosper (57-26), Gatesville (39-24), and Cameron Yoe (25-19) to qualify for the state competition once again. Abilene Wylie also qualified during the tournament.
The next state qualifying tournament will be held in Brownwood next Saturday. The Division II state tournament will take place on July 14-15 at Texas A&M campus. 64 teams will compete in the tournament.
