Brownwood Lions baseball team played their last two games Saturday in the Waco/Robinson tournament, suffering losses against Grandview and The Colony.

Although Brownwood was thought to be playing the winner of the West vs. Corsicana game, a change of plans occurred and the tournament shifted to a round robin style of play.  A total of six games were still played during the tournament.

Saturday’s first game was played at 12:30 p.m. against Grandview.  It was cloudy and breezy at 72 degrees.

Carson McAnally was the first to take the mound, and Brownwood scored one run in the first inning and was able to hold Grandview scoreless through the first four innings.

In the fifth inning, the Lions scored another run.

Each team scored one run in the 6th inning, making the score3-1.

Grandview tied up the score 3-3 in the 7th inning.  Pablo Salazar took over the mound for the Lions.

Four runs came in for Grandview in the 8th inning and Grandview was able to hold the Lions through the 9th inning.

The Lions were able to earn two more runs in the 10th inning, but ended the game with a 7-5 loss.

The second game, took place at 3:30 pm against The Colony.  Kory Owen took the mound, holding The Colony scoreless for two innings.  The Lions’ first inning saw 2 runs and an additional run scored in the third inning.

Tristan Chesser came in to pitch in the third inning.  The Colony was able to score 6 runs and the Lions added one run in the third inning.

Lions scored four runs, answered by an additional 3 runs by The Colony in the 5th inning, bringing the score to 8-9 where it remained through the 5th inning.

The game was called due to time limits and the Lions lost 8-9 to The Colony.
