It was a roller coaster ride for area baseball and softball playoffs this weekend. The rainy and stormy weather on Friday caused numerous changes in the locations of games. The weather also forced game 1 of the area round of Region 1-3A playoffs between Brownwood and Andrews baseball teams to be called off after the 6th inning due to lightning.
That game was completed in Andrews on Saturday with Brownwood taking the win 4-3. Due to the game 1 delay, the best of 3 series was changed to a single game which moves the Brownwood Lions forward to face Abilene Wylie in the semifinals. Game 1 of the semifinals will take place next Friday, May 21st in Brownwood. Game 2 is set for 2pm Saturday May 22nd in Abilene at HSU (all weather permitting).
The Brownwood Lady Lions softball team lost game 2 & 3 on Saturday against Abilene Wylie in the Region 1-3A semifinals ending their season with final scores of 3-1 on game 2 and 2-0 in game 3. The Lady Lions defeated Wylie Friday night in game 1 with a score of 11-4. Wylie moves forward to the quarterfinals to face Liberty Hill next week.
The Lady Lions had a spectacular season under Coach Amanda Formaggio and have much to be proud of. Fans will be looking forward to next season.
