The Brownwood High School Lionettes attended American Dance Drill Team camp at Southern Methodist University June 26th – June 28th. During the camp, three areas were evaluated including a Home Routine and two Camp Routines.
The Lionettes won several awards during the camp. On the second day of camp, the Lionettes, as a group, were named the Team of the Day. This award is chosen by other campers. They also earned the All American Team of the Day, which is chosen by the instructors of the camp. Lionettes also earned Best Home Routine and the Diamond Team Award, having scored the highest possible rating on all three of their routines.The Lionettes were also named All American Team of the Week for the 2nd time in Lionette history, which also includes an invitation to dance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Individual members of the Lionettes also earned high honors: All American Dancers (Alex Hetzel and Cora McNeese) and All American Honorable Mention Dancers (Morgan Ripple, Katelynn Stile, Rylee Hubbard, Gracie Peters, and Alicia Vallecillo).

Alex Hetzel, pictured below, was also given two individual awards for Dance Company and Outstanding Dancer.
