The Brownwood High School Lionettes are kicking off their fundraising efforts to raise money to send the dance team to Orlando, Florida where they will participate in the Capital One Bowl halftime show on New Year’s Day.

The Lionettes were chosen as the Gussie Nell Davis Team of the Week at camp in June held at SMU and invited to dance during halftime at the Capital One Bowl.

“This was a huge honor for us, as Gussie Nell Davis is known as the First Lady of Drill Team,” said sponsor Stacee Hetzel.  “She was also the founder of the Kilgore Rangerettes.”

To help the Lionettes raise the needed funds for the trip, Lionette fans can “Pass the Porcelain” to support the BHS Lionettes beginning Thursday, August 28th.

The instructions for “Pass the Porcelain” fundraiser are as follows:

  1. Look in the tank of the toilet.
  2. Remove the Ziploc bag and read the instructions.
  3. Place the $20 removal fee (donation) in the bag (preferably a check or money order made out to the Lionettes)
  4. Then, write the address of the person that you would like to “pass the porcelain” to on the sticky note that is included in the Ziploc bag.
  5. A Lionette will discreetly move the toilets each evening to the next yard.

Currently there will be four toilets that are passed around to different residential addresses, but in a week, the dance team will have a special potty that will pass around from business to business for $50.

Lionettes will also be selling Brownwood Lion t-shirts for $15 each in both youth and adult sizes.  Shirts will be available for sell before and after pep rallies on Friday, during the first football game and at Meet the Lions on September 1st.
