Linda Gayle Short Burnett, 75, passed away on August 19, 2016 at Glen Rose Hospital in Glen Rose, Texas. She was born on April 21, 1941 in Mathis, Texas to Thomas Amon and WillEtta Redford Short.
Linda grew up in Llano, Texas with a short stint in Big Lake, Texas. She graduated as the Valedictorian from Llano High School.
She attended college at North Texas University in Denton, Texas and Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas where she received a Bachelors in History and Education. She spent most of her life teaching in Brownwood, Texas with a 2-year stint at Alpine, Texas where she taught History and Career Investigation. After retirement, she continued to focus on helping others and taking care of family.
She was a member of Indian Oaks Primitive Baptist Church and several charity organizations. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Linda was preceded in death by parents Thomas Amon and Willetta Redford Short; sister, Jean Etta Short King; brother, Thayne Redford Short; brother, Thomas William Short and infant son, Daniel Wayne Burnett.Linda is survived by her children: son, Hardy Burnett of North Richland Hills, TX; daughter, Shannon and son-in-law Shawn Cauble of Glen Rose, TX; son, Sammy and daughter-in-law Kathleen Burnett of Farmersville, TX; son, Wesley and daughter-in-law Amy Burnett of Waxahachie, TX; 12 grandchildren; Case Burnett, Reagan Cauble, Kyle Cauble, Kade Cauble, Kennedy Burnett, Leighton Burnett, Christain DeHart, Tatum DeHart, Daniel Burnett, Bailee Burnett, Cody Brown and Clayton Cochran; 1 great-grandson Tate Cauble, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Valley Springs Cemetery in Valley Springs, Texas at 2:00 p.m., August 27, 2016. The family will be greeting friends and relatives following the memorial service in Llano, TX at Robinson Park where a celebration of her life will be held with catered food, music, singing, story sharing and just a good time fellowshipping with family and friends. Casual, comfortable attire is requested.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s, Make A Wish Foundation, or Operation Homefront.
