Howard Payne University sophomore Lillie Davis, a cross-cultural studies major from Lampasas, was named the recipient of the HPU Woman’s Club Yellow Rose Scholarship for the 2012-2013 school year. The award was presented at the annual Yellow Rose Scholarship Luncheon held recently in the university’s Grace Chapel.
Davis has excelled academically while at HPU. She has earned the university’s Presidential Scholarship and has been named to the Dean’s List and the President’s List.
As a resident assistant in Veda Hodge Hall, Davis serves as a mentor to other students living on campus. She is involved in student activities and the Baptist Student Ministry and helps coordinate student-led worship held on campus every other week.
Davis is also active in ministry outside HPU, serving as an intern with the college ministry at Brownwood’s Coggin Avenue Baptist Church. She regularly works with youth camps through the Southwest Texas Conference of Methodist Churches and has served as a youth intern at Oak Hill United Methodist Church in Austin.Davis is the daughter of Ronny and Amy Davis of Lampasas.
The HPU Yellow Rose Scholarship is presented annually to a female sophomore at HPU who maintains at least a 3.0 grade point average, participates in extracurricular activities and exhibits leadership qualities representative of Christian values.
