Lillian “Joyce” Thompson, age 76 of Brownwood, passed away at Abilene Regional Medical Center on Saturday, July 21, 2012. Joyce was born on April 13, 1936 in Minden, Texas to Barry Barnes and Irene Maples. She worked in the banking industry for many years and retired from Bank of America. She was on the Fireman Board of Directors and Beacon Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church where she was a member.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Sharon Willson and husband, Paul of Brownwood and Lisa Meek and husband, Wes of Garland; her grandchildren, Vanessa Stewart and Jennifer Stewart of Austin, Charles Jones and wife, Elizabeth, of Abilene and Lee Jones, also of Abilene; her brother, David Barnes of Wyoming; and two sisters in law, Dortha Thompson and Jessie Barnes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Thompson and her brother, Dwight Barnes.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Slaymaker officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the funeral home.
