Juanita went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 17, 2017 in her home, surrounded by her family. Juanita was born to Oscar and Laura (Taylor) Carter on September 17, 1938 in Shelby County, TN. She married Glen Eugene Baskin on November 7, 1954, in Hernando, MS, and shared 46 wonderful years prior to his death in 2000. She was very strong in her faith. Juanita loved gardening and sewing, but most of all she loved her family.
Juanita is survived by her daughters, Rose Griffin and husband Jesse of Brownwood, Diane Witt and husband Daryl of Brownwood; son, Billy Baskin of Bangs; 8 grandchildren, Laura Thomas and husband Jason of OH, Kyle Wyatt and wife Carmen of Dallas, Chelsea Sheppard and husband Tyler of Big Spring, Braden Griffin of Midland, Jonathan Rivers and wife Tammy of AL, Sara Hamilton and husband Jeremy of Early, Stephen Butler of San Angelo, and Hunter Butler of KY; 11 great- grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings, Laura Paskiewicz and husband Ed of IL, Libby Schoonover and husband Dale of ID, Oscar Carter, Jr. and wife Margaret of Bangs, Nancy Bradshaw and husband Ray of TN, Levi Carter and wife Diana of Early, and Boyce Carter and wife Lottie of Bangs. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Eugene Baskin; parents, Oscar and Laura Carter; son, Glen Carter Baskin; daughter, Elizabeth Gail Baskin; and sister, Margaret Sparks.
Graveside Services for Juanita Baskin, age 78, of Bangs will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Bangs Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Oak Ridge Manor and Solaris Hospice for all of their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Juanita.
