Lena Ruth Brookshier age 81, of rural Comanche, was born on August 23, 1938, in Gretna, Louisiana to Carl and Kewpie Duncan.

Lena graduated from Aspermont High School in 1956. She married Delbert Brookshier on February 14, 1980.

She worked for a vet office, taught swimming lessons, worked in the trucking industry and cattle business with her husband. She also designed and built her home.

Her interests were her grandchildren, being a college sports fanatic, and she loved her coffee, cheese, and chocolate. Her life motto was “Eat Dessert first, Life is too Short!”

She is survived by her husband Delbert Brookshier of the home; sons Ray Dodson and wife Shawna of Zephyr, Ross Dodson and wife Debbie of Farmersville, Ron Dodson and wife Donna of Canton; daughters Vicki Selter and husband Will of Aspermont, Tammie Keown and husband Larry of Rocky Face Georgia; sister- in- law Judy Duncan of Whitesboro; 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, along with many cousins and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Kewpie Duncan of Aspermont, a brother, Wesley Duncan of Whitesboro and a daughter, Debbie Hammond of Sedalia, Missouri.

Lena passed from this life on Thursday, April 9, 2020 in an Abilene hospital.  Burial will be in the Democrat Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral and Cremation Service.
