Lela Jo Hankamer, age 89, of Coleman, died Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home.
A time of visitation for family and friends will held at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street in Coleman.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2019 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marvin Hale officiating. Interment will follow at the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
She was born Lela Jo Sanders on August 30, 1930 in Coleman to R.S. (Rob) Sanders and Jewel Bailey Sanders. Lela attended school at Indian Creek and West Ward. She worked several jobs throughout her life. In later years, she was a caregiver. Lela Jo was a Baptist and was a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary Club for many years. She was one of six children.
Lela Jo is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Doris McClellan and Glenda Chidester; brother, George Sanders; niece Kay Lynn; a nephew in law, Billy Greer; grandson James Brinson; and granddaughter, Andrea Jo Brinson.
She is survived by two sisters, Lilly Mae Farmer, Donnie Boatright; two sons, Chris Brinson, Jimmy Brinson and wife Joy; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Holiday Hill for the loving care she received from them. Special thanks to Coleman Home Health and Hospice for all they did to keep Lela Jo comfortable.
