The first major museum exhibit to be showcased in Brownwood will be on display at the Lehnis Railroad Museum for three great months beginning September 18th during the Brownwood Feels Like Home Celebration.
Route 66—America’s Road will cover 1,500 square feet of space at the museum. This enormous, fun, fact-filled exhibit has attracted visitors of all ages as it travels across America.The exhibit features the history of Route 66, the evolution of automobile travel, and how Route 66 played a role in American history. It showcases the stories of people, places, and events and tells the story of the most famous road in America.
Along with beautiful photography, displays, artifacts and activities, an original baby blue 1965 Mustang is part of the exhibit.
In the 1950’s Americans fell in love with their cars, and Route 66—covering 2,448 miles of Texas and seven other states—opened up travel in a way that still captures our imagination.
Route 66—America’s Road celebrates an amazing piece of American history. It will open September 18th during the Feels Like Home Celebration and continue on exhibit until December 31st, 2015. Special opening admission price is only $3 for adults, $2 for children, and under age 5 is free.

The Brownwood Feels Like Home Celebration is a community-wide festival held September 18-20th in Brownwood, Texas featuring a variety of competitions, attractions, music, and food as well as a concert featuring Josh Turner and Uncle Kracker. This year’s festival marks the 15th year of the event.
