Written by Ben Cox – The Lehnis Railroad Museum unveiled the newest addition to their fleet of miniature locomotives today.

The light blue and grey engine’s color scheme was an intentional choice, according to Crystal Stanley, curator of the museum. “It was painted to match the new museum logo, as well as match the city’s color scheme.”

“Eventually, both trains will be able to run on the tracks at the same time”, with switch outs and other events that will entertain the kids, according to Stanley.

The sale of the museum’s old locomotive, as well as a grant from the city, made the museum able to purchase the engine from “Mr Tom Bee, out of Minnesota. It was crafted over the course of a year, by the same person who built the museums existing locomotive. He build them piece by piece, they’re all hand made. The only thing he doesn’t do is the painting. He even delivered it personally!”

Stanley made sure to thank representatives from the Brownwood City. Council who were on hand for the unveiling. “We really could not have done this without the city council. We are really grateful to the members and mayor for helping us to get this one going.”

“I think the kids are really gonna love this! Even older kids who are still a little young at heart” said Stanley

The museum will hold a naming contest for the new engine, forms for name suggestions are in the Museum, which is open Tuesday thru Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., mini train rides are Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., weather permitting.

More information about the museum and the trains it showcases can be found on their website.
