Long time Brown County resident passes away. Funeral services will be in the Davis-Morris Funeral Chapel, Friday, August 15, at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Leatrice was born in Mills County, Texas to Bertie Swindle Boler and Bertice Boler on August 24, 1918. She met her husband, Ferrell Waren, at Bangs High School. They were high school sweethearts. They were married in Fredrick, Oklahoma in 1934. They were married for sixty years at the time of Ferrel’s death.
To their union one son was born. Leatrice started work a week before their son, Dwight, started to school. She expressed many times how much she enjoyed each place she was employed, thirty years total. In the beginning, she worked for some of Brownwood’s earlier fine doctors and at Medical Arts Hospital and Clinic. She was appointed as the first lady in the sheriff’s office by Sheriff Ray Masters. She opened and owned the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio. Leatrice was active civically having served on the board of directors of the American Cancer Society.Leatrice was a longtime church member and choir member of the Baptist church. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Brownwood for fifty years. At the time of her death she was a member of Bangs First Baptist Church. The entire family was always devoted to the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ferrel Waren; and their son, Dwight Waren. Two brothers; Earl Boler and his wife Aleene, Jimmie Boler and a sister; Loretta and her husband, Lester.
Leatrice is survived by her loving niece Earl Dean Shepperd with whom she lived the last few years in Bangs, Texas. Also, Bill and Kris Boler, Larry and Bitsy Aldridge, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, one great nephew and her good friend and care giver Betty Gallander.
