Layla Ann Glaser Bryan, 71, of Goldthwaite, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 24, 2013. A celebration of Laya’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, October 28 at Goldthwaite Church of Christ.
Layla was born on July 23, 1942, in Big Spring, Texas, the daughter of Amel Glaser and Annazine Glaser Williams.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; a nephew, Gatlin Howland and a step-son Brad Bryan.
She is survived by her husband, Jon Bryan of Goldthwaite, Texas; her daughter Laura Mitchell and her husband Michael of Goldthwaite, Texas; step-son Randy Bryan and his wife Debbie of San Marcos, Texas; a step-daughter Suzanne Culbertson and her husband Paul of Paris, Texas; a sister, Amanda Dunn and her husband Bill of Corinth, Texas; a sister, Earline Williams of Irving, Texas; a brother, Allen Glaser of Houston, Texas; a brother, O.J Williams and his wife, Shirley, of Oklahoma; an uncle, Bill Evans and his wife Judy; her pride and joy, her 10 grandchildren: Brad Bryan, Sara Bryan, Colton Mitchell, Mikayla Mitchell, Austin Bryan, Rebekah Bryan, Sean Bryan, Jeremy Bryan, Wesley Culbertson, Will Culbertson; 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that she loved.
Layla worked for American Rice, Inc. from 1971 – 2000, where she was Vice-President of Data Processing. During this time, she met and married her best friend, Jon Bryan. After leaving ARI, she became involved with Senior softball. She began working for SPA- Softball Players Association where she organized and ran softball tournaments across the United States. She did this for approximately 20 years. She was also an active member in the Goldthwaite Church of Christ. If she wasn’t working on softball tournaments or church activities, she was with her grandchildren.
Layla lived and loved life to its fullest. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word. When people were at their lowest, she had the ability to bring them up. Her laughter was infectious. She was blessed with a beautiful voice which she used to praise God and now she is singing with the angels in Heaven. Condolences for the family may be left at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com.
