Since receiving the initial call around 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety have continued in the search of the area around County Road 489. Agencies assisting with this search include the May Volunteer Fire Department, Rising Star Volunteer Fire Department, Texas Department of Public Safety Aircraft Division, and the Texas Department of Corrections K9 tracking and horse mounted division. Helicopters have been called in from Midland and Waco Texas to assist in the search using FLIR thermal imaging cameras during last night’s search.
This search has been extended to search the area on foot, by horse, and by all-terrain vehicles in hopes of locating Mr. West. This area is very remote and heavily covered with brush making the search efforts difficult.
