Brownwood News – On Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at about 6:49 p.m., Deputy Simpson and Corporal Thomas with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center emergency room in regards to a self inflicted gunshot wound. Upon arriving on scene, Deputy Simpson spoke with the victim and Corporal Thomas spoke with a witness. Both stated the handgun was in a holster, which fell from the victim’s waist. When the handgun struck the ground the handgun discharged a round. The round struck the man, entering the lower back side of his calf and exiting the upper inside portion of his calf. The wound was consistent with the story. An information report was taken.

Wednesday, April 4th

10:00 a.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the corner of 4th St. and Brady Ave. in reference to a citizens dispute. A report was taken to be passed on for further investigation.

1:00 p.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Commerce in reference to criminal trespassing. Subject was arrested for warrants out of Brown County and for criminal trespassing.

2:40 p.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Commerce in reference to a theft. A citation was issued.

11:31 p.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to a south Brownwood residence in reference to a call regarding a scam. During this call, a complainant reported that a female offered him what was purported to be expensive jewelry to hold as collateral for a loan from the complainant. The complainant stated that he realized that the jewelry was likely fake after completing the loan. An active report was generated regarding the incident.
