Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Wednesday, September 8, 2010.
Tuesday, September 7
*9:52am – Brownwood Police responded to a report of a found bicycle in the 3100 block of Austin Avenue. Police did not match to the bike to any that were reported stolen.
*10:05am – Brownwood Police responded to a report of a vehicle burglary in the 1200 block of Victoria. Firearms were reported stolen from the vehicle.
*7:47pm – Brownwood Police responded to a report of a hit and run accident in at the corner of Vine and Coggin. The police report states that a vehicle hit a utility pole at the intersection and left the scene. Police later located the vehicle driven by 21-year-old Christopher Ryan Silva. He was arrested and charged with Driving While License Invalid with Previous Conviction.
-Brown County Sheriff Office arrested 43-year-old Kelli Mills May on an outstanding warrant for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. A charge of Possession of Marijuana was added when she was was arrested.
Wednesday, September 8
*Early Police Chief David Mercer reported that at approximately 1:41am Wednesday morning, Sgt. Shawn Dibrell was at a convenience store in an unmarked vehicle and in plain clothes when a female approached him and asked him for some money to buy gasoline.
Sgt. Dibrell began talking to the woman when she indicated that she could get him some dope to thank him for helping her. Police reports state that the woman made some phone calls and tried to arrange some meth but could not make contact with her supplier at this time. Police said that she then contacted another person who stated they did not have meth or cocaine at the moment but could supply some Hydrocodone and Somas.
The woman instructed Sgt. Dibrell to follow her into Brownwood where the drugs were located. While en route, Sgt. Dibrell made contact with Brownwood Police Department shift commander Kenyon Black and informed him of the situation. Police said that the woman instructed Sgt Dibrell to wait at the corner of Brady Avenue and 3rd Street while she obtained the drugs.
When the female returned with the Hydrocodone and Soma, Sgt. Dibrell identified himself as a police officer as Sgt. Kenyon Black and Officer Scotty Burke of the Brownwood Police Department arrived on the scene. Police said that the woman responded by stating “I’m Caught”. The woman, identified as 38-year-old Victoria Jean Pope Mayes, was placed under arrest for Manufacture/ Delivery of Controlled Substance and Delivery of Dangerous Drug then transported to the Brown County Jail.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
