Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Tuesday, September 7, 2010.
Thursday, September 2
*6:07pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Commerce in reference to a hit and run accident investigation in a local store parking lot. According to the report, the complainant came out of the store and found his vehicle had been damaged. No suspect or suspect vehicle information was known at the time of the report.
Friday, September 3
*Bangs Police arrested 39-year-old Michael Boatright of Carlsbad, TX for Public Intoxication.
* Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 29-year-old Graciela Castaneda Castillo for Driving While Intoxicated with Child Under 15 years of age.
*Brownwood Police arrested 17-year-old Joe Jay Gaines for Disorderly Conduct-Fighting.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 31-year-old John Curtis Weyerts of Brookesmith on a probation violation during a probation search of a Brookesmith residence. According to BCSO, a pipe with residue of methamphetamine was found and Weyerts voluntary surrendered another pipe. His probation was revoked at that time according to the report and an additional charge of Possession of Controlled Substance was added.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 47-year-old Johnny Ascencion Navarro of Cross Plains for Driving While Intoxicated.
*8:51am-Brownwood Police reported to Brownwood Middle School regarding a Minor in Possession of Tobacco Products. After an investigation, a citation was issued.
*10:33am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Belle Plain regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the complainant stated that between 9pm on Sept. 1 and 3pm on Sept. 2 an unknown subject shot paintballs at three rent houses. Damage to a window screen was noted at one of the houses. The complainant wished to pursue criminal charges if the suspect was found.
*11:10am-While on duty at Brownwood High School, a Brownwood Police officer was approached by a student in reference to an unknown substance in a clear baggie that he had found in the north parking lot of the school the report states. Investigation began and substance believed to be marijuana was placed into evidence at BPD.
*5:40pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 3700 block of Savoy Drive regarding an assault. The suspect identified a known suspect. Prior to the officer’s arrival, the suspect fled the scene according to the report. No arrest had been made.
*8:46pm-A Brownwood Police officer was patrolling near Avenue A and Vincent when a vehicle failing to signal was observed. According to the report contact was made with the driver, identified as 58-year-old David Chavez Ortega, and the passenger, 52-year-old Terry Lee Stewart. After investigation, Ortega was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Stewart was charged with Public Intoxication.
*11:34pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2100 block of Avenue B regarding a report of harassment. According to the report, the complainants stated that they were tired of their neighbor, Rachel Banker, texting and harassing them. Officers were told that Baker and a relative were at a local bar drinking and that when Baker is intoxicated, she returns to her home and starts problems with them the report states. Shortly after midnight, officers returned to the address on Avenue B where Baker was found to be intoxicated and disorderly. According to the report, during an attempt to detain her, Baker resisted the officer. After gaining control of Baker, and while the officer was walking her to the patrol car, she made several threats to the complainants in retaliation for reporting her. She was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct, Terroristic Threat and Resisting Arrest.
Saturday, September 4
*Bangs Police arrested 53-year-old Mary Kay Magoon of Bangs for Assault Family Violence.
*5:43pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Avenue I regarding theft. According to the report, the complainant identified a suspect who he believes stole a window unit from a rent house. The complainant wished to pursue charges.
*9:12pm-A Brownwood Police officer was patrolling the 800 block of W. Austin and observed a male riding a bicycle, later identified as 49-year-old Joe Alfonso Martinez. After a short investigation, Martinez was arrested for Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz. in a Drug Free Zone, Failure to Identify as a Fugitive and arrested for an outstanding Brown County warrant.
*10:10pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1500 block of Davis Lane where an apartment was entered by force. According to the report, the complainant had returned home just as the suspect fled through the entry point. Nothing was taken from the apartment; however, the complainant’s bra was taken off a hanger and left on the floor. No suspects or witnesses at this time. The report states that “Entry was possibly made for sole purpose of collecting undergarments from the residence for sexual gratification.”
*11:06pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to a local bar in the 400 block of S. Broadway regarding a report of theft. The report states that the complainant advised that his bicycle had been stolen while he was inside the business. A search of the immediate area was conducted.
Sunday, September 5
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested Michael Correy Brown of Santa Anna for Driving While Intoxicated.
* Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 26-year-old Brandon Dee Gilbreath of Bangs for Driving While License Invalid with Previous Conviction.
* Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 43-year-old Diane Eileen Harper for Driving While Intoxicated, 2nd and Unlawfully Carrying Weapon.
*1:16am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to a two vehicle accident in the 2200 block of 4th Street. Upon arrival, it was found that an intoxicated female, identified as 29-year-old Tina Ellis, had struck an unoccupied vehicle parked along the curb the report states. There were no injuries; however Ellis was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
*2:18am-A Brownwood Police officer was traveling on Crockett Drive, approaching Hwy 377, when he observed a man walking in the bar ditch along the road. According to the report, the male appeared to be having difficulty maintaining his balance while he was walked in a jagged line from the bar ditch to the outside lane where the officer made contact. 43-year-old Santiago Sanchez Vega was identified and further investigation led to Vega’s arrest for Public Intoxication.
*4:05am-Brownwood Police noted a female walking in the roadway in the 1500 block of Main Street (Hwy 377S). The officer initiated a pedestrian stop and identified the female as 33-year-old Stephanie Lovelady. After an interview, the officer determined that Lovelady was intoxicated in a public place and a danger to herself and others the report states. As Lovelady was arrested for Public Intoxication, she pulled away several times and was consequently also charged with Resisting Arrest.
*4:02pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1100 block of Clements Drive regarding an employee who was being disorderly in the business, who had also been terminated. According to the report, the store manager requested a criminal trespass warning be issued to the subject. The subject was contacted by phone and agreed to come to the BPD to be issued the criminal trespass warning.
*9:17pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of 10th Street regarding an assault. According to the report, upon the officer’s arrival, the complainant had no visible injuries and was seeking advice regarding her daughter’s behavior. An informational report was taken and options provided.
Monday, September 6
*2:21am- Brownwood Police initiated a stop on a motorcycle for speeding. The driver provided his deceased brother’s driver’s license to the officer as well as lied about his address according to the report. The driver, identified as 26-year-old Joseph Johnston was subsequently arrested for Fraudulent Possession of Identification.
*9:57pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1500 block of Magnolia regarding a report of criminal mischief. According to the report, the complainant identified a subject who she believes entered her apartment through an unsecured window and stole several items from the apartment.
*10:08pm-Brownwood Police conducted a traffic stop of a male on a bicycle. Reports state that after an investigation, it was determined that the male had a small package containing a leafy substance believed to be marijuana. The male, identified as 17-year-old Jonathon Michael Chiles, was then arrested for Possession of Marijuana, <=2oz. in a Drug Free Zone.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
