Sunday, August 31
*9:17 AM – Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a report of animal cruelty. According to the report, six horses were not being cared for. The deputy found the horses to be in six separate stalls with food and water present. One horse had two open draining wounds under each of its eyes and another horse had a small wound underneath its left eye, the report states. The owner stated that all of the horses are currently under a veterinarian’s care, according to the report.
Tuesday, September 2
*7:50 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of 1st Street regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the complainant’s 2014 Nissan Altima had been damaged in the incident.
Wednesday, September 3
*12:12 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the EZ Mart on Hwy 279 North regarding a report of theft. According to the report, management said that an employee was found to have allegedly stolen a prepaid phone card by using another employee’s social security number.
*12:59 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the report of a burglary. An investigation is ongoing, the report states.*6:16 PM – Brownwood Police responded to the 700 block of Penn Street regarding a domestic disturbance. This call led to the arrest of 37-year-old Christopher Knox of Brownwood for public intoxication.
*7:25 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Avenue C regarding theft. According to the report, a go cart which was stolen from the complainant’s residence was later found at another residence at the above location. The cart was returned to the owner and an investigation is ongoing, the report states.
*7:39 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1500 block of Austin Avenue regarding a hit and run accident. According to the report, an electronic menu board had been hit by a vehicle described as a black Chevy Cobalt.
*9:55 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2200 block of Southside Drive regarding an assault. According to the report, the caller’s wife had been assaulted by her 12-year-old niece. The female victim claimed bodily injury from the assault. Although she refused to press charges at the time of the initial call, she later called back and stated that she did wish to pursue charges, the report states.
*While conducting a consent search of a motel room of 32-year-old Kenny Edward Slaughter of Brownwood and a female for stolen property on a burglary follow-up investigation, a Brown County Sheriff’s deputy located a small red plastic scoop straw and a small black plastic tube containing methamphetamine residue. The report states that Slaughter claimed ownership of the straw and tube and was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram.
*Brownwood Police arrested 31-year-old Ashley Irene Busche of Brownwood on a warrant related to a parole violation.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 35-year-old Ben Flynn of Cedar Park for driving while intoxicated.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Austin Lee Hawkins of Malakoff on a Smith County warrant for theft of property.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 17-year-old Leanna Marie Perkins on a warrant related to motion to adjudicate/theft of property equal or greater than $50 less than $500.
