Law enforcement arrests and reports released Monday, September 26, 2011.
Friday, September 23
*9:26am-Brownwood Police officer on patrol in the area of Durham Avenue and Avenue I observed a pickup turning which had a passenger who was not wearing a seat belt while the vehicle was being operated. During the stop, the passenger was issued a citation and the driver, identified as John Andrews, was found to be in possession of several illegal items, the report states. Andrews was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving While License Invalid with Previous Conviction.
*2:48pm-The Brownwood City Marshal was on patrol when he noticed a vehicle with expired registration and inspection stickers on Coggin Avenue near 3rd Street. When the light turned green, the marshal attempted to make a traffic stop and the passenger, later identified as 20-year-old Alexander Jose Martinez, exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot between houses, the report states. A description of Martinez was called out and other officers began to help locate the suspect. A female was driving the vehicle and was detained until officers could determine why Martinez ran. The driver was issued citations for both expired stickers and for failure to report a change of address as required by law.
According to the report, Martinez had left the passenger door open and upon inspection, the marshal noticed a baggie of marijuana lying on the passenger seat. A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy responded with a picture of Martinez and stated that he had two felony warrants for his arrest. The female driver stated that the marijuana was not hers and that she does not smoke dope, but that Martinez does, the report states. Her baby and puppy were in the car, so she was allowed to stay with the car until the interview was complete and she was released at the scene.
After a short search of a nearby neighborhood, Martinez was located in a vacant garage apartment. Martinez was booked into the Brown County Jail on the two warrants (motions to revoke: burglary of a habitation and retaliation) and new charges of Evading Arrest or Detention and Possession of Marijuana less than 2oz.
*7:12pm-Brownwood Police issued a criminal trespass warning to a residence in the 1800 block of 9th Street after a request from the subject’s ex-wife who had made several complainants of harassment.
*8:59pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of 9th Street regarding a hit and run accident. The complainant advised that she was struck by another vehicle while at the intersection of Coggin Avenue and Austin Avenue. The driver of the other vehicle then drove away from the scene of the accident, according to the report.
*10:36pm-Brownwood Police responded to the report of a burglary in the 2400 block of 13th Street. The complainant advised that numerous tools were taken from inside a tool box that had been stolen from the bed of his pickup truck. The suspect also used the garage door opener which was inside the pickup to access the garage and steal a shop radio, the report states. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
*11:30pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Chandler in reference to a prowler that had come into a residence. Upon investigation, it was alleged that the suspect had forced his way into the complainant’s house and stolen multiple items of prescription medications. An investigation is ongoing.
Saturday, September 24
*11:45am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of 10th Street regarding disorderly conduct. According to the report, the officer spoke with the two people involved and discovered that they were in a dating relationship. No visible signs of injury were observed and only a report to document the incident was made at this time.
*2:30pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2200 block of Crockett Drive, Centex Soccer field, in reference to the burglary of a vehicle. According to the report, the complainant stated that while watching a soccer game, an unknown subject broke the driver’s side window to her vehicle and stole her purse that was located inside the vehicle. There was no arrest at the time of the report.
*4:30pm-A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on County Road 261 near CR 258. The driver and only occupant was identified as 34-year-old Cody Joe Wills. He was asked if he had anything in his pockets that he shouldn’t and denied, but later emptied his pockets revealing a pipe with marijuana residue inside, the report states. Wills denied when asked if he had any marijuana left, then changed his mind, producing a bag of marijuana which was in the console of his truck, according to the report. He was asked if there was anything else, and after saying no, a search of the vehicle revealed a prescription pill bottle labeled to contain Hydrocodone with the prescribed person’s name ripped off, according to law enforcement. Once at the jail, the deputy asked him if he had anything else in his possession that he could surrender to avoid additional charges of taking it into the jail facility, Wills then surrendered more of the same Hydrocodone from his watch pocket and admitted ownership of the rest, the report states. Wills was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 3, under 28g and issued citations for Open Container and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
*6:07pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Coggin Avenue regarding the burglary of a vehicle. Investigation determined that an unknown suspect broke into the complainant’s vehicle and stole a purse that was laying on the center console area. The complainant gave the officer a possible suspect’s description as “a white male in his early 20s, approximately 5’9” tall, thin build, with crooked teeth and short hair who was wearing a red/blue jersey and blue jean shorts, driving a 90s model Chevy Tahoe which was 4 door and a brown or maroon color.”
*10:35pm-A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop in the 600 block of Idlewild for a defective headlamp. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 44-year-old Timothy Leon Bullion. This traffic stop led to Bullion’s arrest for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or more.
*11:58pm-A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made contact with a van parked at the corner of the Bangs Hill rest area, known by law enforcement to be a popular location with narcotic users. As the deputy pulled in, both occupants met him at the back of the van which he considered unusual, the report states. As the deputy spoke with the two, the male seemed as if he was trying to avoid the deputy’s view each time he spoke with the female, the report states. The deputy was given consent to search by the female owner of the vehicle. According to the report, a back-up officer arrived and the deputy began his search which netted a small amount of lose marijuana in the back passenger seat. The deputy asked the male, identified as 19-year-old Joe William Boyd, Jr. of Burleson, if he had discarded any marijuana and if so to tell him where to avoid any charge of tampering with evidence. The back-up officer was the K-9 unit and an open air search was used to locate any additional marijuana, according to the report. Boyd continued to deny having knowledge of the marijuana already found; however, the K-9 search yielded a baggie of marijuana which had been thrown into the bush near where Boyd had been standing when initial contact was made, the report states. Boyd was arrested on charges of Tampering with Physical Evidence and Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz along with an outstanding warrant from Burleson Police Department for Theft of Service $500-$1500.

*12:30am-Brownwood Police responded to the report of a domestic disturbance in the 2200 block of Vincent. According to the report, investigation revealed that the complainant had been assaulted and she alleged that she had been strangled by her boyfriend who had left prior to the officer’s arrival. The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Jason Coffey was later located at a residence in the 1800 block of 2nd Street and was placed under arrest on charges of Assault Family Violence Strangulation. A criminal trespass warning was issued to Coffey and an emergency protective order was submitted, according to the report.
*1:09am-A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop for failing to yield the right of way in the 900 block of Riverside Drive. The driver was identified as 49-year-old Debrah Aaron of May. An investigation led to the arrest of Aaron for Driving While Intoxicated, 1st offense.
*11:44am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to 401 W. Commerce regarding theft. According to the report, the asset protection employees advised that two females had been caught concealing two DVDs which they did not attempt to purchase. Both subjects were issued citations for theft less than $50.
*5:14pm-Brownwood Police contacted a subject who wished to speak with an officer. The complainant stated that her husband had assaulted her while he was dropping off their child. She reported that he then left the scene before she was able to contact police, the report states.
*5:45pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 800 block of Booker regarding a dispute between neighbors. During investigation allegations that a neighbor had gotten upset with a juvenile neighbor and threatened her with a knife, the report states. The juvenile’s guardian wished to pursue charges.
*10:29pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Waco Street regarding the burglary of a vehicle. According to the report, the complainant stated that someone stole a chainsaw from the bed of his pickup.
*10:51pm-A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle and identified the driver as 25-year-old Laura Lee Robertson and the passenger as 26-year-old Robert Travis Breeding, both of Abilene. During a pat down of Breeding, a pipe used for smoking marijuana or K-2 was found and Robertson stated it belonged to her, the report states. A consensual search of the vehicle and luggage in the vehicle located a pill bottle with pills identified as Hydrocodone according to the deputy’s report. Poison Control was contacted and the pills were identified to be Promethazine which is a prescription drug for nausea. According to the deputy, Breeding knowingly had possession of the pipe and knowingly placed the prescription in a pill bottle not labeled for that use, therefore was charged with Possession of a Dangerous Drug Class A and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Robertson was also arrested, charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 45-year-old John Earl Brumlow.
All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
