Tuesday, September 18

*11:09am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Austin Avenue regarding the burglary of a vehicle.  According to the report, sometime overnight, an unknown individual entered a pickup and removed a piece of equipment valued at approximately $700.  No suspect was determined; however, the investigation is ongoing.

*3:10pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2100 block of Slayden, Brownwood High School, regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, a student had been allowed to exit the classroom to go to the bathroom and it was believed that he had damaged the brick wall adjacent to the restroom.  After investigation, the student was issued a citation for criminal mischief under $50.

Wednesday, September 19

*11:53am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2700 block of Southside Drive regarding the assault of a teacher at Brownwood Alternative High School.  After investigation, the student was issued a citation for assault-offensive contact.

*3:00pm-Brownwood Police received a report from Brownwood Middle School administration that a student had cursed and “flipped off” a teacher inside a classroom.  Investigation determined the incident to have occurred and the student was issued a citation for Disorderly conduct-profane language.

*3:43pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Clark Street, Good Samaritan, regarding a suspicious call.  According to the report, the call led to a report being taken for Indecency with a Child.

*4:16pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1200 block of Vine Street regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated an unknown person had stolen her cosmetic bag which contained a men’s watch, men’s stop watch and approximately $40 in quarters.

Thursday, September 20

*8:07am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of W. Commerce regarding found property.  According to the complainant, he had found an abandoned wheel chair at the rear of the property.  The complainant also told officers that during the past week, someone had cut through the chain link fence at the back of the property, the report states.

*12:33pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 600 block of Maple Street regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her laptop computer was stolen from her residence.  After checking other items of value, the complainant discovered a cross bow and arrows, a Wii game system with controller and her daughter’s digital camera were also missing from the residence, the report states.  The value of the stolen items was estimated to be $1300. Possible suspect information was provided.

*3:40pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2600 block of W. Main Blvd. regarding the burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the complainant told officers that someone had forced open the door of her residence sometime between 7:15am and 3:15pm.  At the time of the report, the complainant was unable to determine if any property had been stolen from the residence.

Friday, September 21

*10:37am-Brownwood Police were called to the 3000 block of 14th Street regarding found property.  According to the report, the officer met with a witness who found a revolver in the 3000 block of 14th Street.  The revolver was not reported as stolen; however the investigation will continue, the report states.

*10:39am-Brownwood Police met with a complainant who reported sexually explicit messages and photographs on a family member’s cell phone.  The phone was turned over to law enforcement for further investigation, the report states.

*11:23am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2500 block of Southside Drive regarding the burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the intruder came through a window and was confronted by the resident, then fled out the back door before any property was stolen.  A partial suspect description was given and an investigation is ongoing, the report states.

*12:53pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 400 block of Lipscomb regarding harassment.  According to the report, a criminal trespass warning was issued to a subject at the request of the complainant.

* 8:20pm-Brownwood Police responded to the report of a hit and run in the area of Lakeway and W. Commerce.  According to the report, an officer was able to locate a vehicle matching a witness description of the suspect vehicle, in which an unresponsive male was found.  While waiting for Guardian EMS to arrive, the driver began to wake and told the officer that he had taken some Hydrocodone and Xanax for his back and neck pain from injuries he sustained from an earlier accident, the report states.  According to police, the male was transported to the emergency room for his injuries.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible scam.  According to the report, the complainant stated an ongoing occurrence of someone using her business name as a return address for FedEx envelopes containing fraudulent checks as part of a scam operation.  The complainant believes that the Brownwood 3M Fed Ex account may have been hacked and used to send out the envelopes.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 5800 block of N. Hwy 279 regarding stolen car parts.  According to the report, the business reported a female suspect had brought in scrap metal and sold it to the business.  When the owner of the business arrived back, he saw a woman he recognized leaving and when the owner was shown the metal, he recognized it as parts to an oil rig, the report states.  Knowing where the woman lived, the man drove nearby and noticed an old oil rig that was broken down, matching the color of the parts, according to the report.  He called the owner of the rig who came to the business and identified the parts as belonging to his rig.  The incident is under investigation.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a scam.  According to the report, the complainant was the victim of the “Guadalajara Grandparent scam.”  The complainant was contacted by a female she believed to be her granddaughter that told her she and a friend had gone to Mexico and were involved in a car accident, the report states.  She then instructed the complainant to send a $2900 MoneyGram to an attorney in Mexico to pay for damages and her release.  The victim sent the money and then was called by the female who stated the money had been received but that she would have to stay another night in Mexico, the report states. When the complainant asked where the “granddaughter” would be staying and her flight plans, the caller was very evasive, according to law enforcement.  The complainant stated that she later learned that her granddaughter was never in Mexico, the report states.

Saturday, September 22

*1:40am-Brownwood Police conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Coggin Avenue regarding a defective tail lamp. During the stop, a passenger in the vehicle, later identified as 25-year-old Orlando Demarcus Atkins provided false identifying information, the report states.  Atkins was found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Austin and was arrested for failure to identify fugitive  – intentionally provides false information and for the active warrant.

*10:29am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of Pecos Street regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the windshield of the complainant’s vehicle appeared to have been broken, possibly struck by a rock or heavy ball of some type.  No suspect information was available at the time of the report.

*12:06pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of Avenue B regarding a stolen vehicle.  According to the report, the complainant’s Ford F150 was loaned to a man he knew for the night to take another friend home to Coleman.  When the man did not return the truck the next day, the complainant tried to contact the man through phone calls and friends; however all efforts were unsuccessful, the report states.  To make a report of a stolen vehicle, officers stated that the complainant would have to be willing to pursue criminal charges for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and the complainant agreed.  The vehicle was listed as a stolen vehicle at that time.

*12:49pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Bluffview regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant’s vehicle had been “keyed.”

*5:20pm-Brownwood Police were notified that Brown County Sheriff’s deputies located the stolen Ford pickup from earlier in the day on Hwy 67 W near Santa Anna.  According to the report, the deputies initiated a traffic stop and arrested 44-year-old George Alford Ford of Coleman who was driving the vehicle.  Ford was charged with Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and No Driver’s License.

*7:02pm-Brownwood Police while patrolling in the 1300 block of 8th Street, heard a loud screaming sound coming from the 1900 block of Coggin Avenue.  According to the report, investigation determined a domestic disturbance had occurred at the address.  All subjects involved were separated to prevent any further escalation of violence, the report states.

*10:10pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1200 block of 1st Street regarding a domestic disturbance.   According to the report, the actor was not on scene when officers arrived.

*11:01pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1500 block of Waco Street where a complainant reported she found her dog dead in the front yard from what she believed to be a gunshot wound.   No suspect information was available at the time of the report.

Sunday, September 23

*12:55am-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the area of Center Avenue and South Broadway after the officer saw a vehicle run a flashing red light at S. Broadway and Fisk.  The stop led to the arrest of 22-year-old Royce Phillips for Driving While Intoxicated.

*5:37pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of 1st Street regarding a female juvenile assaulting her adoptive father.  The complainant reported seeing the juvenile assault her husband, the report states.  The juvenile was arrested and released to the juvenile detention center.

*6:52pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Bluffview regarding an assault.  According to the report, the complainant advised her boyfriend, who had left for the day, had pushed her down causing a bruise on her forearm.

*7:50pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Avenue D regarding the theft of a bicycle.

*8:18pm-Brownwood Police were called to the2000 block of 13th Street regarding a violation of a protective order.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her son was with his father, who had a protective order.   After receiving a copy of the protective order, the officer located the son who was with his father, 38-year-old Toribio Torres, who was arrested and charged with violation of a protective order.

*8:24pm-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 2100 block of US Hwy 377S after observing a vehicle crossing over the yellow driving line multiple times and the driver throwing a cigarette out the window.    The stop led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 36-year-old Kristina Leeada Bates, for driving while intoxicated.

*Early Police Department arrested 35-year-old Anthony Wayne Rainey for driving while intoxicated with open container.

Monday, September 24

*12:26am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to an apartment in the 600 block of Avenue G regarding juveniles at the location who were intoxicated and being loud.  According to the report, officers arrived and spoke with a complainant who stated he had seen several male subjects dragging a female up the stairs and into an apartment.  The officer made contact with the subjects and was allowed to enter the apartment to check the welfare of the female, the report states.  While inside, the officer located marijuana as well as numerous items of drug paraphernalia.  19-year-old Christopher Allan Minor and 20-year-old Toni Alexandra Pinson were arrested for the possession of marijuana less than 2 oz.  Two other subjects were issued citations for possession of drug paraphernalia.

*4:14am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1000 block of Durham Avenue regarding the burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, it was determined that a subject entered the residence through an unlocked door, taking a female’s wallet along with other things left on the kitchen table.  No suspect has been identified.

*12:18pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Fisk Avenue regarding a hit and run.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her vehicle was hit while it was parked the parking lot of a business and the suspect vehicle fled the scene.  The incident was determined to have occurred between the hours of 9:00am and 11:07am this date.  No suspect information was available at the time of the report.

*12:37pm-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding ID theft.  According to the report, suspected identity theft was determined to be a possible scam with numerous victims named, as well as a possible suspect.  The investigation is ongoing, the report states.

*1:51pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Durham Avenue regarding theft.  According to the report, a known suspect was named, the stolen property was located at a local pawn shop and a hold was placed on it.

*9:19pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of Southside Drive regarding drugs/narcotics.  According to the report, the caller stated that a female subject had left a bag containing drugs on the caller’s front porch.  Dispatch advised the direction of the suspect’s travel.  At the time of the officer’s arrival, a small plastic baggie containing crystal substance was seized along with other miscellaneous items belonging to the suspect and all were turned in to the BPD property room for safe keeping, the report states.  A report was generated for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 more than 1 gram and less than 4 grams.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 30-year-old Christopher Vermont Monroe of Abilene for driving while license invalid.

*Early Police Department arrested 37-year-old Reynaldo Garza of Early for driving while License invalid with previous conviction.
