Law enforcement arrests and reports released September 22-23, 2011.

Monday, September 19

*1:13pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to a hit and run in the 2200 block of Berkley Street.  The complainant stated that his truck had been hit and he did not know who struck it.  Damage consisted of a large dent on the passenger’s side of the truck.

Wednesday, September 21

*12:42pm-Brownwood Police were called to 600 N. Center, Hastings Book Store regarding a shoplifter who was being detained.  According to the report, an employee of the store stated she saw the woman try to walk out the door when the door alarm sounded and the woman was then detained.

*3:15pm-Brownwood Police received a report from a complainant that her bank accounts have been frozen as a result of her cashing fraudulent money orders which were sent to her through a known scam involving mystery shoppers.  The total amount of money orders cashed equaled $1850.00, the report states.

 

*10:46pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of Slayden Street regarding the theft of a bicycle.  According to the report, the complainant stated that she saw a male juvenile steal a bicycle then flee the area.  A possible suspect was provided.  The male juvenile was later contacted in the 200 block of Clark Street.  The suspect admitted to the theft and was arrested for theft of the bicycle, which was valued at $60, and for probation violation, the report states.

Thursday, September 22

*10:51am-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce in reference to a suspicious female who was attempting to pass a forged prescription.  This investigation led to the arrest of 47-year-old Melissa Mans Franklin of Sidney for three counts of Prescription Fraud and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 3.

*11:10am-A Brownwood Police officer spoke with a store manager at 1400 Austin Avenue, Brookshire’s regarding criminal trespass.  A suspect was identified.

*5:19pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2700 block of Memorial Park Drive regarding the burglary of two vehicles.  According to the report, the complainants stated that the incidents occurred sometime between 2:00pm-5:30pm this date.  One complainant stated that the rear right passenger window had been broken and $1000 cash, a check for $200 and a radar detector were stolen from her vehicle, according to police.  The other complainant stated that the left passenger window was also broken out and $12 cash was taken, the report states.

*5:37pm-Brownwood Police received a report of a vehicle burglary.  According to the report, the complainant stated that while she was picking up her daughter from daycare, someone stole approximately $100 cash and some prescription medications from her vehicle.    According to the report, the vehicle was left unattended and unlocked for approximately 20 minutes.

*6:05pm-Brownwod Police responded to the call of a citizens’ dispute.  Communications advised that two females were fighting.  Investigation led to a report of Assault with Injury Family Violence between one of the females involved in the fight and another male.

*6:44pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to 401. W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, in reference to a vehicle burglary.  According to the report, the complainant stated that someone stole her husband’s wheelchair out of the back of her pick-up.  The complainant went on to explain that her husband was a disabled Veteran and that he is legally blind as well.  Security footage is being reviewed in hopes of identifying a suspect.

*7:09pm-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, where a shoplifter was being detained.  The suspect was identified and subsequently issued a citation for Theft less than $50.

*8:12pm-While on duty at Brownwood High School, a Brownwood Police officer was notified by the assistant principal that a baggie had been found by a student which contained an unknown substance believed to be marijuana.   An investigation into the ownership of the baggie was conducted; however it could not be determined who the baggie belonged to and subsequently it was taken to the Brownwood Police Department evidence room.

Friday, September 23

*2:31pm- Brownwood Police responded to a burglary.  The victim stated that her white Spectrum Straus guitar was taken out of her residence while she was gone to the soup kitchen for about two hours.  There are no suspects at this time.

All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
