Saturday, September 17
*12:36am-Brownwood Police were called to the area of Congress St. and Chandler. Two subjects were identified at this location. One suspect was issued a citation for open container and the other was issued a citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A marijuana smoking pipe was seized and processed into evidence at Brownwood Police Department.
Monday, September 19
*9:19am-Brownwood Police were called to a domestic disturbance in the 2300 block of 1st Street. While en route, dispatch notified the officer that the male subject had left the scene and dispatch had lost contact with the victim. The officer made contact with the suspect (identified as 22-year-old Ryan Rothermel) who, along with the victim, stated that they had been in an argument and that he had grabbed the victim around the throat, the report states. Rothermel was arrested for Assault Family Violence by Strangulation.
*12:17pm-Brownowod Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Vine Street regarding theft. The complainant believed that his last rentor stole three of his window air conditioning units after being evicted. A suspect has been identified.
*1:13pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1500 block of Indian Creek regarding found property. A bicycle had been abandoned and was left at the corner of 4th Street and Indian Creek. The bike was taken to the Brownwood Police Department impound for safe keeping until the owner can properly identify and claim it.
*7:29pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2800 block of Southside regarding burglary of several vehicles. These incidents were thought to have happened between the hours of 2:30-3:30am on September 20th. According to police there were five cars burglarized during the night. All of these cars were unlocked according to Brownwood Police Assistant Chief James Fuller.
“The majority of things stolen were wallets and purses left in unlocked cars,” said Fuller. “We are constantly responding to and doing reports on these types of preventable crimes, people need to lock their cars and not leave their valuables inside.”
*8:10pm-A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle for defective tail lamps. This call led to the arrest of 40-year-old Melissa Michelle Valadez for Driving While License Invalid with Previous Convictions.
*8:45pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1000 block of Avenue K regarding a violation of a protective order. The suspect was not located at the time of the report and no arrest has been made. The subject allegedly is harassing a victim with text messages and voice messages.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Ayana Natasha Patterson of Austin for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 1 Less than 1g.
Tuesday, September 20
*7:44am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of Belle Plain, Fast Lane Car Wash, regarding the burglary of coin operated machines. According to police, the complainant told officers that all four of the coin operated machines that work the car wash were broken into; however no money was stolen. The owner estimated the damage at approximately $100, the cost to repair the machines.
*8:58am-Brownwood Police responded to a report of fraud in the 3800 block of US Hwy 377S at a local clinic. The information gathered during this call indicated a female subject was using a doctor’s identifying information to obtain prescription medication fraudulently at Wal-Mart.
*9:15am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2900 block of Coggin Avenue regarding theft. According to the report, two large file shelves and a red office chair were stolen from outside of the business. Brownwood Police arrested 42-year-old Gabriel Louis Hinojosa for Theft of Property $1500-$20,000. Hinojosa allegedly stole the items and was caught when he attempted to sell them to a local scrap yard according to police.
*2:18pm-Brownwood Police responded to a report of Identity theft in the 300 block of Market Place Blvd. The complainant stated that someone had opened an account in his name without his knowledge or permission.
*4:20pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 100 block of Bowie Circle regarding theft. The complainant stated that during the night, someone stole her 12-speed Mongoose bicycle between the hours of 3:30-4:00pm on this same date. There were no suspects at the time of the report; however the complainant would like to pursue charges. A serial number of the bike was not provided. The complainant valued the bicycle at approximately $150.
*5:41pm-Brownwood Police responded to the report of an assault. Investigation determined that an assault did occur and that the suspect was 24-year-old Antonio Ochoa, Jr., the report states. The victim, a 19-year-old relative refused medical treatment at the scene. Ochoa was arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Injury Family Violence.
*7:29pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2900 block of Avenue D regarding the burglary of a vehicle. The complainant stated between the dates of Sept. 9th and Sept. 12, someone stole several tools from his vehicle.
All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
