Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Monday, September 20, 2010

Tuesday, September 14

*7:10pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 100 block of Bowie Circle regarding a theft.   The complainant advised that someone had stolen some of his lawn furniture and a wooden platform from off the back of his property.  Search of the surrounding area was conducted but nothing was found.

*3:20pm-Brown County Sheriff Deputies attempt to apprehend a subject on an outstanding warrant.  When the suspect saw the marked patrol car, he ran away.  The deputy then gave pursuit on foot but was unable to apprehend.

Friday, September 17

* Early police report that Sgt. Shawn Dibrell stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Early Blvd which had left an area known for criminal activity.  Knowing the driver had outstanding warrants for his arrest, Sgt. Dibrell along with Officer Furry detained 35-year-old Billy Jack Salas, Jr. then questioned him about his whereabouts just prior to being stopped.  Salas then surrendered a small amount of methamphetamine that he had just purchased.

Police reports state that Salas had just picked up his kids from school and made a stop to purchase the methamphetamine.  The children’s mother was notified to pick up the kids while Salas was placed into custody.  Police said that a referral will be made to the Child Protective Services and the investigation will continue.

 Salas was charged with possession of controlled substance in a drug free zone, 2 charges of endangering a child, and the Motion to Revoke Warrant for Possession of Marijuana.   He is being held on a total of $13,000 in bonds.

*9:32am-Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Burglary of a Habitation with a May, Tx address.  Three different attempted entry or entry locations were found.  The resident of the property had just moved all their valuables out of the property the day before.  Nothing was taken from the property however; damage to two doors and a broken window was present.

*11:05am-Brownwood Police responded to the 1200 block of Looney Street to a call regarding theft of services.  According to the report, the officer spoke with the manager and a case was opened and the investigation is ongoing.

*11:37-Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of Songbird Circle regarding a theft of medication.  According to police, 5 medication patches were reported to have been stolen.  At the time of the report, all of the staff that had access to the medication have been drug tested by the facility and there are no suspects at the time of the report.

*2:42pm-Brownwood Police responded to a report of criminal mischief at McCoys.  The reporting party showed officers where an unknown subject had cut three strands of barbed wire off the fencing at the back of the property.  It was unknown if anything had been stolen; however, the reporting party did wish to pursue charges if any suspect(s) were identified.

*5:50pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 900 block of Avenue B for a civil standby dealing with child custody.

*10:39pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Main Street regarding a hit and run accident.  The complainant advised that she had been struck by a small brown pick-up travelling north at a high rate of speed in the southbound lane.  The complainant was uninjured; however, the brown pick-up was not located as of the time of the report.

*11:54pm-Brownwood Police responded to a report of an assault at the EZ Mart, located at 101 C. C. Woodson Road.  The victims were identified as employees of the store working the night shift.  A crowd had gathered to do business at the store due to the large number of people at the Brownwood Reunion and management was limiting the number of people that were allowed to enter the store.  As one customer would come out, they would allow another to enter in order to avoid overcrowding.  According to the report, video surveillance showed the incident which was to be turned in as evidence at BPD and a warrant will be sought for the arrest of the known suspect who will face charges of assault, terroristic threat, and false report to a police officer. 

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 50-year-old Tersa Kay Graves for Possession of Marijuana, less than 2 oz.

*Brownwood Police arrested 17-year-old Reina Mireles for Prohibited Weapon, switchblade.

Saturday, September 18

*1:35am-A Brownwood Police officer, while on patrol, was contacted by a complainant regarding a strong arm robbery which was reported to have taken place at 1:20am in the 500 block of Congress Street.  According to the report, the complainant stated that she had parked her car in the 500 block of Congress, got out of vehicle and an unknown female suspect came up to her, grabbed the purse and fled.  Investigation at the scene and surrounding area yielded no further information on suspect or recovery of the stolen property.  Stolen were the purse, along with a wallet, make up and approximately $20 in cash.  The complainant did not want to pursue charges, but did want to file and informational report.

*12:15pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the area of Booker and West Streets regarding a physical altercation between a male and a female.  This call for service led to the arrest of 19-year-old Anthony James Garcia, Jr. for Assault Causing Bodily Injury Family Violence.

*1:36pm-Brownwood Police received a report from two individuals that they were being harassed and threatened by the same suspect.  According to the report, the suspect was continuously harassing the complainants by phone calls and text messages while they were at the Brownwood Reunion and also at their residences.  Police are investigating.

*5:52pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2500 block of Avenue E regarding a theft.  The complainant advised that someone had stolen an extension cord from the back of his pick-up.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 40-year-old Sabrina Forrester of Dublin, Texas for Driving While Intoxicated.

Sunday, September 19

*12:38am-Brownwood Police were called to the Melwood and Booker area regarding a male that was running down the street.  Upon arrival to the area, the male was observed walking in the 100 block of Romines.  Contact was made and the man was identified as 22-year-old Jerry Douglas Allen, Jr.  After investigating, Allen was placed under arrest for Public Intoxication.

*4:54pm-A Brownwood Police officer was provided with a found wallet from the Brownwood Reunion.  The owner of the wallet was determined and police attempted to contact him in order to return the wallet, but had no success.  The wallet has been secured at Brownwood Police Department until the owner is able to be contacted.

*Brownwood Police arrested 20-year-old Vance Rice for Public Intoxication.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary of a habitation in the area of the Brownwood Country Club.  The home had been left unlocked and someone had made entry and stolen some women’s jewelry.  No other items of value were missing.  No suspects were known at this time and there are no arrests.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
