Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Monday, September 12, 2011.
Friday, September 9
*10:05am-Brownwood Police were called to the 200 block of W. Commerce, the AT&T building, regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the mailbox and sprinkler control box were damaged. No suspect information was available at the time of the report.
*11:16am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of Slayden in reference to a vehicle which was possibly broken into. At the time of the report, no victim was located, the report states.
*12:15pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1000 block of W. Commerce regarding a domestic disturbance. According to the report, the complainant reported that she had been assaulted on 9/8/11. The complainant wished to pursue charges, according to the report.
*6:44pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to 900 block of Crothers regarding an assault. Dispatch advised that the complainant had been assaulted by his neighbor with a pipe, the report states. After speaking with both parties, it was determined that both parties had committed an assault. According to police, the incident began when one party was arguing loudly with his wife and a neighbor who was watching television became upset by the noise. Both parties had differing stories of the events, according to the report. The man arguing with his wife had a baseball bat with which he hit the complainant, who was alleged to have grabbed a big stick, the report states. It was determined that both parties assaulted each other. While officers spoke with the complainant, he yelled at the neighbors calling them “drug dealers.”
At 11:00pm, police were called back to speak with the complainant who said he had been assaulted. Police advised him that they had already spoken with him earlier this night and he returned to his apartment. The neighbor of the complainant who had been involved in the disturbance earlier stated that he heard a noise and noticed a broken flower pot on his porch. He reported that when he went outside, he saw the complainant standing between the two apartments. The complainant admitted being angry and throwing the pot at the porch and stated, “I’m tired of that little punk.” No arrest had been made at the time of the report.
*10:16pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 700 block of Melwood in reference to criminal mischief. The complainant advised an unknown person(s) had slashed both drivers’ side tires of his pick-up.
*10:47pm-A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop at 1600 Avenue H. Investigation showed that the driver, 26-year-old Christopher Brian Boyd had a suspended driver’s license for surcharge due/no insurance and also currently had no insurance on the vehicle. Boyd was placed under arrest and charged with Driving While License Invalid Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.
*11:20pm-Brownwood Police received a report of found property at the corner of Walnut and Houston Streets. An officer was dispatched and the bicycle was taken to the police impound at 1050 W. Commerce for safekeeping until the owner can properly identify and claim it.
Saturday, September 10
*1:00am-A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop in the 700 block of 10th Street. Investigation determined that the driver, 24-year-old David Ortiz Martinez, Jr. was intoxicated, according to police reports. The driver submitted to a blood draw which was performed at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Martinez was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
*8:11am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Coggin to a local hair salon in reference to a burglary of a building. According to the report, the owner of the business advised that during the night someone had forced their way into the business, kicked open an interior door and pried open a filing cabinet. According to police, nothing appeared to be missing at the time of the report.
*8:27am-Brownwood Police responded to the 1000 block of Santa Clara regarding an animal complaint. The complainant told the officer that his dog had been shot with a pellet gun by an unknown subject on Tuesday, September 6th. The complainant further advised the officer that the dog died on this date as a result of the shooting, the report states. No suspect information was available at the time of the report and the investigation is ongoing.
*8:53am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to Coggin Avenue Baptist Church regarding a burglary. The complainant advised the officer that $20-40 in cash was stolen during the burglary, the report states. Three to four checks made payable to the church were also taken according to police. No suspects were identified at the time of the report.
*12:29pm-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding a detained shoplifter. The subject was identified and issued a citation for Class C Theft, less than $50.
*4:57pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the Camelot Apartments at 2001 Slayden regarding a fire in the alley. According to the report, the complainant stated that juvenile subjects started the fire. Both juveniles along with their parents were advised that a report was being made and a copy would be forwarded to the fire marshal for possible charges of arson.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 49-year-old Robert Lynn Hale of Coleman for Driving While Intoxicated 2nd.
Sunday, September 11
*12:27am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of E. Commerce in reference to criminal mischief. Investigation showed that unknown actors “egged” the complainant’s vehicle on the outside and inside (since the convertible top was left down), the report states. No suspect information was available at the time of the report.
*1:24am-Brownwood Police were called to the 700 block of W. Commerce, Tequilla Nights Club, in reference to criminal mischief. Investigation showed that multiple vehicles in the parking lot had the tires slashed on them.
*1:30am-Brownwood Police responded to a fight in progress in the 1500 block of Waco. The suspect, 58-year-old Fred Allen Westerman was placed under arrest for Assault Causing Bodily Injury. According to the report, the victim suffered apparent minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene, but did wish to pursue charges against Westerman.
*3:50am-Brownwood Police responded to the 300 block of Bluffview, to the report of a large fight in progress. Upon officers’ arrival, they found multiple bloody victims involved in the fight, the report states. Officers determined that one half of the fight consisted of three women and one man; the other half of the fight consisted of three women. Police indicate that all had been drinking at a party before the fight broke out. One woman was upset that her estranged husband was now dating a woman who was present at the party, according to the report. The complainant stated that she called the police because her brother, who was under age, was drinking with some of the women and had left the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Several of the women punched each other during the fight, the report states. The one woman who was transported to the hospital as a result of the fight, admitted to kicking another woman while she was on the ground. Police indicate that charges are being pursued for multiple subjects.
*10:19am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of Southside Drive regarding theft. Investigation determined that an iPhone had been stolen at a business in the 2500 block of Morris Shepherd Drive.
*2:21pm-Brownwood police were dispatched to the 500 block of W. Commerce, Hibbett Sports, in regard to theft. While the officer was en route to the store, dispatch provided a description of the male suspect, who was wearing a white t-shirt and green shorts and had tattoos on his forearms. According to the report, this suspect was located and admitted that he did take a pair of receiver’s gloves. The suspect was issued a citation for Theft less than $50.
*6:40pm-Brownwood Police received a report of an animal bite in the 3000 block of 1st Street. A dog which was hooked to a line on its owners’ property had bitten a small child who was on the complainant’s property. The child was taken to the hospital for treatment and the animal control officer was notified.
*11:00pm-Brownwood Police responded to 401 W. Commerce to a report of a vehicle driving recklessly and having front end damage. The officer located the vehicle which stopped in a parking stall, running and occupied by a female driver, identified as 21-year-old Jerrie Lean Baldwin. After speaking with Baldwin and conducting an investigation, she was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated 1st offense.
*11:30pm-A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop at 1700 block of Avenue D. The driver, identified as 52-year-old Agoberto Donnell Aguirre was determined to be intoxicated and placed under arrest. Aguirre consented to a blood specimen and was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center where the blood was drawn. Aguirre was charged with Driving While Intoxicated/Open Alcohol Container.
*Bangs Police arrested 48-year-old William Mike Benton of Bangs for Interfere with Public Duties.
All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
