LECSmBrown County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Brownwood man at approximately 4:26 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9th after a traffic violation on drug related charges.  According to the report, a BCSO investigator observed the vehicle fail to signal a turn and advised a nearby deputy of the offense.  The deputy then initiated a stop in the area of 9th Street and US Hwy 377 South according to the officer’s report.  The driver of the vehicle, later identified as 27-year-old Daniel Santos Morales, Jr., continued traveling on Hwy 377S and then turned onto the 500 block of 6th Street where he pulled the vehicle over and then fled on foot southbound toward 7th Street, the report states.  The responding deputy deployed his taser during the footchase; however missed hitting Morales, but was able to catch him when Morales fell to the ground, the report states.

Because of Morales’ size, the deputy used the taser in stun mode to gain control and secure him in handcuffs, the deputy reported.  After being identified, Morales’ vehicle was searched due to the search clause related to his being on probation, according to the report.  An Arizona Tea Canister with a false compartment held numerous small plastic baggies consistent with the packaging of methamphetamine for sales and distribution and a black pouch which contained a crystalline substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine, the report states.  Morales was placed under arrest and charged with evading arrest/detention, resisting arrest, and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 1 greater than 4 grams less than 200 grams in a drug free zone because he had possessed the controlled substance within 1000 feet of the Howard Payne University women’s softball field.

Monday, September 9

*5:11 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 3000 block of Austin Avenue regarding theft.  According to the report, a key to a Kawaski Mule, an undetermined amount of rope (valued at $50), and a come-along (valued at $50) were stolen from the property.  No suspect information was available at the time of the report.

*3:33 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart regarding theft.  According to the report, a suspect had attempted to leave the store without paying for $26.59 in merchandise.  The suspect was issued a citation for theft less than $50, the report states.

*A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to Temple Avenue regarding the burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the complainant stated that at approximately 5:00 PM, on September 8th, he had observed a small 2-door dark colored passenger car pull up to his residence and two subjects wearing hoodies exit the vehicle and then enter his residence for several seconds and then leave.  The complainant identified one possible suspect, the report states.

Tuesday, September 10

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 42-year-old Roy Don Andrews on a warrant for driving while intoxicated 3rd or more and driving while intoxicated 3rd or more with open container.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30-year-old Hollis Mack Davis of Brady on a warrant for failure to appear possession of a controlled substance.  Davis was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond as of Wednesday morning.

*26-year-old Codie James Ledlow of Austin turned himself in on a warrant for motion to adjudicate/possession of marijuana.  Ledlow is being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond as of Wednesday morning.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30-year-old Matthew Curtis McCrary of Abilene on a warrant for motion to adjudicate/credit card abuse.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 42-year-old Cilfton Louis Medcalf on a warrant for failure to appear/driving while license invalid with previous conviction suspension without financial responsibility.

Wednesday, September 11

*A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop on E. US Hwy 377 in Blanket, which led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 50-year-old Troy Dean Morey of Comanche for possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces.
