According to Early Chief of Police David Mercer, 28-year-old James Adelbert Russell of Brownwood is wanted by police on two outstanding warrants for burglary of a motor vehicle and one on felony theft.
Early Police are investigating Russell’s connection with 29-year-old Joshua Lucier who allegedly is involved in a string of vehicle burglaries in Early and the burglary of Humphery Pete’s restaurant.
Early Police Sgt. Shawn Dibrell and Brownwood PD officers served arrest warrants on Josh Lucier Monday for two charges of burglary of a motor vehicle and a felony theft charge where over $2000 worth of items were taken from a motor vehicle. All the motor vehicle burglaries centered on the 100 block of Early Blvd at Humphery Pete’s restaurant where Lucier had been employed.
Lucier was previously arrested on August 4th in connection to the burglary of Humphrey Pete’s restaurant and the burglary of a residence. Click here for information regarding the August 4th arrest of Lucier.

Saturday, August 6
*Early Police Officers Stephanie Haile and Amanda Williams made a traffic stop on a black dodge pickup in the 1200 block of CC Woodson for failure to stop at the designated point at the intersection.
According to the report, the officers observed an open whisky bottle in the back seat of the vehicle and upon further investigation a 750 ML bottle of Tequila/Vodka along with a 1.75 Liter bottle of Rum were located. A marijuana bong and a bag of marijuana were also found under the seat, the report states. The three occupants, 20-year-old Coy Rian Mize of Colorado City, 21-year-old Tyler Chamberlin of Coleman and 20-year-old Ethan Griffin of Brownwood, were placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana and Minor in Possession.
Sunday, August 7
* At approximately 9:00pm, Officer Jeff Benson and Officer Brandon McMillian investigated a white 1993 Ford pickup in the 400 block of Early Blvd which was parked in the middle of the road. According to the report, as officers approached the vehicle it slowly began to drive away. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and continued to observe that it was being driven in an erratic manner.
When officers made contact with the driver they observed he had a cut on his forehead and was bleeding. The driver gave several different stories about his injury. Guardian EMS was called to the scene for medical treatment.
The driver also had a strong odor of alcohol on him and had very slurred speech according to Early Police Chief Mercer. The driver was transported to BRMC ER for treatment. The driver’s previous driving history including more than three Driving While Intoxicated convictions and other factors which required a mandatory blood draw for testing of his blood alcohol level. Due to the injuries the driver was not placed under arrest at this time. A warrant will be obtained at a later date.
Monday, August 8
*11:08pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 400 block of E. Commerce where a complainant advised that several subjects had shoe polished her vehicle.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
