Monday, August 22
*11:38am-Brownwood Police met with a subject who came to the Brownwood Police Department to turn in several medications for destruction which had belonged to his aunt who is now deceased.
Tuesday, August 23
*12:21pm-Brownwood Police were called to the Veda Hodge Hall on the Howard Payne University campus regarding theft. The complainant stated that a bicycle was stolen from the school between August 22nd and August 23rd.
*3:30pm-A Brownwood Police officer, while working at Brownwood High School, 2100 Slayden, was notified that a former student was on campus without authorization. The assistant principal located the juvenile in the student center of the school and brought him to the resource office of the school. An investigation determined the juvenile was listed through NCIC/TCIC database as a missing person out of Del Rio, Texas. The juvenile was issued a criminal trespass warning and Child Protective Services was contacted. CPS then transported the juvenile to their office where he was released to workers pending placement.
*7:21pm-Broownwood Police were dispatched to the 3800 block of Countryside regarding a welfare check. Complainant advised officers that his wife was not answering the phone.
*8:50pm-Brownwood Police initiated a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Riverside Drive. The driver, identified as 42-year-old Herschel Neal Sharp of Johnson City, was determined to have a suspended driver’s license with surcharge due for intoxication. Sharp also had an outstanding warrant and was arrested for Driving While License Invalid.
*9:54pm-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 300 block of N. Main Street. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Rick Lee Rodriguez, was determined to be intoxicated and placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. He was transported to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center emergency room where he consented to a blood specimen and then was taken to the Brown County Jail.
Wednesday, August 24
*1: 48am-Brownwood Police responded to a domestic Disturbance in the 1500 block of Magnolia. Upon arrival, officers found it to be an incident involving alcohol and a few intoxicated subjects. According to the report, a female had been assaulted and received facial injuries. Upon investigation into the incident, it was found that two men were fighting over a woman, according to Assistant Chief of Police James Fuller. When she attempted to separate the men, the suspect identified as 33-year-old Byron Lee Mitchell turned and punched her in the nose “like she was a man,” according to police reports. Mitchell was located a short time later at a nearby apartment and was arrested for Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury. The woman was treated at the emergency room after receiving a few stitches from falling to the ground when she was punched. She was thought to also have a concussion and was later released, according to police.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
