Law Enforcement reports and arrests released August 2, 2011.
Monday, August 1
*7:47pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2500 block of Good Shepherd regarding a burglary of a vehicle. The complainant stated that a new Dell Precision laptop was stolen from the back seat of his pickup truck while it was parked in the driveway of his residence. According to the report, the complainant did not know if the pickup was locked at the time of the burglary. The value of the computer was estimated to be $500. The complainant wished to pursue charges if a suspect could be identified. The laptop belonged to his employer, Waldrop Construction.
*8:52pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1100 block of Magnolia regarding the burglary of a vehicle.
*10:21pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2100 block of Austin Avenue, Coggin Park, regarding a reckless driver. According to the report, a complainant stated that a juvenile drove an older model black Chevrolet truck off road through the park at a high rate of speed. The juvenile was identified by witnesses the report states.
*11:39pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of Songbird Circle regarding theft. According to the report, the complainant stated that while he was sleeping, someone stole $400 in cash from his room. The incident was reported to have occurred between the hours of 6:30pm-10:30pm August 1. The complainant did not know who would steal from him but he wished for criminal charges to be pursued if a suspect is identified.
Tuesday, August 2
*12:40am-While patrolling, a Brownwood Police officer, noticed a vehicle speeding in the 100 block of E. Commerce and made a traffic stop in the 500 block of West Commerce. According to the report, the occupants of the vehicle were identified and further investigation led to the discovery of a small baggie of a leafy substance found in the vehicle, believed to be marijuana. All of the occupants denied having any knowledge of the baggie and its contents, the report states. Warrants are being sought for the three occupants’ arrests.
*2:00am-Brownwood Police were called to the 500 block of E. Commerce regarding an assault. According to police, a male subject was attacked by three men with clubs and sustained injuries to his head which required medical attention. Photos of his injuries were taken and he was transported to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center for treatment and was released. Suspects were identified; however no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
