Law enforcement reports and arrests released Monday, August 1

Friday, July 29

*8:15am-Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a mailbox at a residence in Blanket that had been pushed over by a vehicle.  The mailbox had been mounted on a 4 x 4 wooden post which was concreted into the ground.

*10:09am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2600 block of Streckert regarding a hit and run accident.  The complainant stated that his wife’s vehicle had been struck while parked at the hospital.  The suspect vehicle left the scene without leaving any required information.

*5:15pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a case of copper wire theft in the 11000 block of Hwy 183 in Zephyr, from 1Source Technical Storage yard.  The owner stated that 2 air conditioning units and  temporary power poles were damaged when sometime between July 24-29, someone stole copper tubing and wiring out of items in the yard.  The damage was estimated to be several thousands of dollars in value, according to the report.  

A suspect identified as 26-year-old Nehemiah Perkins of Zephyr, who staying at a nearby residence was named in the case; however he did not admit to the theft of the wire and an investigation into the copper wire theft will continue.  Perkins was arrested during the investigation due to marijuana and paraphernalia used to smoke marijuana along with a Cialis pill for which Perkins did not have a prescription were found at his residence.  Melted copper wire was also found at the residence but its origin is unconfirmed, according to BCSO officials.

*5:50pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 700 block of W. Austin regarding an assault.  The assault involved one adult and two juveniles.  The incident is under investigation.

*6:53pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1000 block of San Benito where a complainant stated that a window had been broken in two vehicles.  No suspects had been determined at the time of the report.

*7:09pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of cruelty to livestock animals.  A concerned neighbor reported there were several horses and donkeys in poor condition.  The animals were found to have plenty of water; however they appeared to be lacking in food and proper care according to the deputy that responded to the call.   In total, 7 horses and 2 donkeys were found to be in “very poor shape, needing hoof care and food,” according to the deputy.  The neighbor was able to provide contact information for the owner who was contacted and instructed to give them more feed and hay.  The owner stated that he has been trying to sell them and that he was going to come back with more food for the animals that evening.  The deputy further advised the owner to have someone work on the hooves of the animals so that they did not become crippled because of their condition.  Follow up visits by BCSO deputies will be made to make sure the owner is taking steps to get the animals to a healthy condition, according to the report.

Saturday, July 30

*Approximately 12:30am EPD Officer Haile responded to a mobile home park in the 600 block of Early Blvd to a physical disturbance where two individuals were fighting.  Upon Officer Haile’s investigation, one individual, 55-year-old Donny Ray Manion, was taken into custody for 2 counts of Assault with Injury and Public Intoxication. According to EPD officials, one individual with injuries to the head and ear was transported by Guardian EMS. DPS and BCSO units also responded to assist.

*Approximately 4:00am-Early Police Officer Stephanie Haile observed a vehicle with several subjects yelling obscenities out the window driving down the 1300 block of Early Blvd. Officer Haile stopped the vehicle in the residential area of Eastwind Drive, and the vehicle pulled into a driveway pretending to belong there, police reports state.  Officer Haile questioned the driver and provided a field sobriety test. The driver, 22-year-old Charles David Holland of Bangs, was placed under arrest for DWI. A blood search warrant was issued by Judge Frank Griffin and blood was taken from the Brownwood Regional Medical Center.  The passengers were issued citations for open container and released to another party who came to pick them up.

*5:00am-Brownwood Police located a juvenile male in the 1600 block of Avenue K.  The juvenile was identified and found to be in violation of his terms of release according to the Juvenile Probation Officer (JPO) that was contacted.  He was detained and then taken to the Juvenile Detention Center at the request of the JPO.

*6:35am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2100 block of Southside Drive regarding an unwanted person.  The complainant stated that her son, 21-year-old Patrick Shannon, had damaged her vehicle and she wished to pursue charges.  Shannon was later arrested for Criminal Mischief equal or greater than $1500 and less than $20,000.

*8:30am-A Brownwood Police officer made a stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 300 block of Wesley.  According to the report, the officer could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle.  The driver, identified as 50-year-old Daniel Perez, admitted to possessing marijuana in the ashtray of the vehicle.  Perez was arrested for Possession of Marijuana less than 2oz.

*10:52am-Brownwood Police were called to the 800 block of Quail Run regarding criminal mischief.  The complainant reported that the front storm door had been shattered.

*11:25pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Avenue H regarding theft.  The complainant reported that her refrigerator, which was a rental from Dart Furniture, had been stolen from her previous residence in the 3600 block of Durham.  The refrigerator had been left there until she could have it moved.  A suspect was named; however no arrest had been made at the time of the report.

*12:27pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to 401 W. Commerce regarding theft.   After an investigation, it was determined that a female, identified as 32-year-old Stephanie Riley had attempted to steal several items of merchandise from the store.  Riley was arrested for theft equal or greater than $50.

*4:47pm-A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop for a defective left brake light in the 1200 block of Beaver St.  This stop led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 43-year-old Eugene Butts, for three outstanding warrants and for Driving While License Invalid/Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.

*9:31pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to a residence on Surrey Lane regarding found property.  The reporting party stated that he is watching his neighbor’s home and stated that he had found a bicycle lying in the roadway in front of the home.  The bicycle was taken to the Brownwood Police Department impound for safekeeping until the owner can properly identify and claim it.

*6:07pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2800 block of Southside regarding disorderly conduct.  An intoxicated male had become belligerent but had left the scene prior to the officer’s arrival.  The male was located in the 3800 block of 4th Street a short time later.  The male, identified as 50-year-old Gary Hughes, was not able to pass field sobriety tests and was arrested for Public Intoxication, the report states.

*8:47pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 1500 block of Terrace Drive regarding a Domestic Disturbance.  The complainant stated that her husband had assaulted her earlier in the day at a convenience store, then pushed her at the residence and that she struck him in the face.  Neither subject wished to pursue charges.

*9:55pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Dallas Street regarding an assault.  Dispatch advised the officer that a suspect, identified as 28-year-old John Daughterty, had assaulted another man by punching him in the face and was still on scene.  Daugherty was placed under arrest for Public Intoxication.

*10:40pm-A Brownwood Police officer on routine patrol made a stop for a traffic violation in the 1300 block of 2nd Street.  Investigation showed that the driver, identified as 28-year-old Falon Rae Snell, was under suspension of her license for no insurance.  Snell was subsequently arrested for Driving While License Invalid/Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.

*11:30pm-A Brownwood Police officer met with a complainant in the 1600 block of Avenue B regarding criminal mischief. The complainant showed the officer his vehicle which had the rear window busted out.  It has not been determined how the window was broken, according to the report.

*11:56pm-A Brownwood Police officer noticed a male and female behind the EZ Mart on CC Woodson.  Due to the pair’s suspicious behavior, the officer made contact with them.   This investigation led to the arrest of the female, identified as 17-year-old Adeline Nicole Hulsey of Early, for Public Intoxication and Failure to Identify.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 31-year-old Christopher Michael Griffin of Abilene for Driving While License Invalid with Previous Convictions

Brown County Sheriff’s Office reports that over the weekend, a 19-year-old male was taken to the emergency room after he and others snorted bath salts at a party near Lake Brownwood.    BCSO reported that the male had been a previous user of K2, another party drug that has recently been added to the list of illegal substances across the state.  The man was released from the hospital Sunday afternoon, according to BCSO reports.

Sunday, July 31

*10:40am-A Brownwood Police officer while on routine patrol stopped a vehicle for traffic violations in the 900 block of Avenue G.  During the stop, the driver was identified as 64-year-old John Allen Propst and determined to be intoxicated while operating a motor vehicle.  Propst was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, a warrant signed for a blood draw and he was taken to BRMC for the blood sample, then transported to the jail. 

*12:56pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 100 block of Bowie Circle in reference to terroristic threat.  A suspect has been named who allegedly threatened to take the life of another subject.

*5:09pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2400 block of Coggin Avenue, Lil’s Poodle Boutique, regarding a burglary.  An investigation determined that someone had entered the business using a doggie door.  Approximately $250 was taken from the business.

*7:35pm-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce regarding a shoplifter that was being detained.  The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Dolly Herbert of Rising Star, concealed numerous items and attempted to leave without purchasing the items, reports state.  The stolen property had a total value of nearly $65.00, all of which was returned to the store.  Herbert was arrested for Theft Equal or Greater than $50 less than $500.

*11:30pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Bluffview regarding a loud music complaint.  During the investigation, information was obtained which created a concern for a juvenile resident of the apartment complex.  Personal information was collected and forwarded to Child Protective Services for further investigation.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 38-year-old Rose Marie Pierson for Assault Family Violence/Impede Breath.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
