Law enforcement arrests and reports released Monday, July 09, 2012.
Friday, July 6
*10:25am-Brownwood Police met with a complainant at 401 W. Commerce, Citizen’s National Bank branch inside Wal-Mart, regarding fraud. According to the report, the complainant identified Landmark Life Insurance as the victim.
*11:53am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Brooks regarding a domestic disturbance involving an intoxicated female.
*3:14pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 400 block of N. Main Street, King’s Smart Choice Cellular, regarding theft. According to the report, the complainant stated that a female bought items from the store totaling $416.09, paying by check. After the female left, the complainant discovered that the check was not valid.
*3:27pm-Brownwood Police received medication from a local doctor’s office which was turned into BPD for destruction. According to the report, the medications were a large amount of expired sample medications.
*4:08pm-Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center regarding the sexual assault of her teenage granddaughter. According to the report, the suspect was identified as another relative and the offense was believed to have been occurring over a number of years during the summer months at the relative’s home in another county.
*5:22pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Pecos Street regarding a runaway juvenile.
*5:58pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Brooks regarding an unwanted person. According to the report, a female subject was located and issued a criminal trespass warning for the property according to the resident’s request.
*6:45pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1100 block of Morris Lane regarding the theft of a BBQ pit. According to the report, the BBQ pit was stolen from the residence in the last couple of months. The value of the pit was estimated at $400, the report states.
*7:48pm-Brownwood Police received a report of harassment via telephone. According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown subject had sent offensive and threatening text messages to her juvenile daughter’s phone. The complainant later came to the Law Enforcement Center to provide copies of the text messages to police for further investigation.
*9:10pm-Brownwood Police received a report of a sexual assault of a child/statutory rape. According to the report, the complainant stated that the victim lives in Brownwood; however the offense occurred in Abilene approximately one month ago. More information will be provided to police for investigation and Child Protective Services was contacted, the report states.
*11:54pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Melwood regarding a domestic disturbance. According to the report, investigation led to the arrest of 23-year-old Lauren Kersey for Assault with Injury Family Violence.
*Brownwood Police arrested 45-year-old Javiar Zuniga for DWI 2nd and Driving while License Invalid.
Saturday, July 7
*6:54am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1500 block of Coggin Avenue regarding found property. According to the report, a woman’s black leather trifold wallet filled with miscellaneous items was found. This call led to the discovery of a burglary of a motor vehicle, the report states.
*11:55pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Riverside Drive regarding a domestic disturbance in a moving vehicle. According to the report, the couple was located in a parking lot at this location standing outside of a silver mini-van. The altercation was allegedly due to the suspect being extremely anxious about and having a fear of diseases, the report states. According to the report, the suspect had become angry because she had come in contact with someone she knew to have hepatitis. The victim denied any physical assault between him and the suspect; however the suspect admitted to officers that she had hit the victim in the head. The suspect was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center where she agreed to speak to an MHMR caseworker.
*Brownwood Police were dispatched to a residence on the north side of Brownwood regarding a runaway juvenile. According to the report, the complainant stated that her teenage daughter may have been enticed to provide pornographic photographs via cell phone and computer. Two computers and a cell phone were provided to officers to process to see if enticement did occur, the report states. The case has been forwarded to the BPD Criminal Investigation Division.
*Brown County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence regarding a domestic disturbance. According to the report, the complainant stated that Marcus Wade Madison, whom she lived with, had assaulted her. Deputies observed two silver dollar sized knots on the complainant’s head and that her dress had been ripped, allegedly by Madison, the report states. According to the report, the couple had been at a friend’s home drinking and had gotten into an argument. Madison was charged with Assault Family Violence with Injury and while being placed under arrest, Madison resisted and continued to fight deputies, even after being taken down, the report states. Madison made threats that he would assault one of the deputies once he got out of jail if he ever saw the deputy again and attempted to kick the windows out of the patrol unit, the report states. He was additionally charged with Resisting Arrest and Obstruction/Retaliation.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 34-year-old Lindsay Lenay Allen for DWI.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 23-year-old Joshua Leonard Hold for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon is Weapon Free Zone and Theft by Firearm.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 19-year-old Jared Ross Patterson for Driving Under the Influence Minor.
Sunday, July 8
*3:04am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Avenue G regarding a burglary. According to the report, the complainant stated that a known suspect kicked open her front door and fled the scene prior to police arrival.
*10:13am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2800 block of Southside Drive regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the complainant stated that three tires on her vehicle were damaged. Possible suspects were named by the complainant and estimated value of the damaged tires was $100 each.
*3:09am-Brown County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop on C. C. Woodson Road for failure to signal 100 feet prior to changing lanes. According to the report, the driver identified as Velentina Cantu Chelette, was found to have no driver’s license and was cited for Driving While License Invalid and for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. During the course of the stop, the deputy found marijuana in the vehicle after a consented search, the report states. Chelette was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana less than 2 grams.
*1:05pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 4200 block of US Hwy 377S regarding fraud.
*6:27pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to 401 W. Commerce regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the complainant stated that her ex-husband damaged the right front tire of her vehicle and she wished to pursue charges against him.
*6:54pm-Brownwood Police were responded to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding an intoxicated male. According to the report, the intoxicated male was sitting and laying on the ground at the 4-way stop signs. Officers arrived to find the male laying in the muddy area beside the northeast stop sign, the report states. The male, identified as 51-year-old Freddie Delvin Thomas was arrested for Public Intoxication.
*10:20pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence regarding a domestic disturbance. According to the report, a mother and daughter had gotten into an altercation after the mother came home to find the daughter, identified as Hailey Sutton, extremely intoxicated and attempting to leave with her small child. During the altercation, Sutton then struck her mother in the head with a closed fist and bit her nose causing a puncture wound in her mother’s nostril, the report states. Sutton had left the scene prior to officer’s arrival but was located by another deputy and arrested for Assault with Injury Family Violence according to the deputy’s report. The child was then transferred to his father’s custody.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 42-year-old Mark R. Garvin of Early for DWI w/child under 15.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 21-year-old Nathan Hopkins of Early for DWI 2nd.
Monday, July 9
*12:21am-Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an assault which resulted in the complainant being arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. According to the report, Robin Barnett called and reported that she had been pushed and some of her antiques had been broken during an argument with her son and his live-in girlfriend. Barnett stated that she was pushed by the son’s girlfriend, fell to the floor, and that her son had even fell on top of her during the argument, the report states. She further stated that she went to her bedroom and retrieved a .22 rifle to allegedly protect her property and that her husband stood between Barnett and the girlfriend “so that no violence would occur,” according to the deputy’s report. The son and daughter had been living with the complainant and her husband for the past month, the report states. Barnett was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
