A Brownwood Police officer finished working the night shift Monday morning to find that she was the victim of criminal mischief. According to the report, the officer arrived home at approximately 6:15 a.m. and found that her mailbox was damaged and a neighbor’s mailbox had been pulled up and was lying in the officer’s yard.
While the officer was still on duty, she had noticed several trash cans on 4th Street to have been knocked over as well. Another officer was dispatched from another call to investigate multiple mailboxes being damaged in the area. The locations of the damage was in the 3900 block of 4th Street, the 1400 block of Phillips, 3800 block of 3rd Street and 1300 block of Indian Creek.
The report stated that several of the mailboxes had no dents, damaged paint or other visible signs of being struck by an object or projectile and no vehicle parts or tire marks were observed around the damaged mailboxes. Two of the mailboxes had lids bent downward. Another mailbox belonging in the 1300 block of Indian Creek was found in a lot which belongs to Brownwood ISD in the 1400 block of Phillips.
One victim stated that he and his family were up until about 1:00 a.m. and heard nothing. Another stated that he was woken by loud crashing noises around 3:00 a.m. It took him a few minutes to find his glasses and exit his house; however he did see a vehicle driving recklessly in the parking lot of 7-11, the report states. A description of the suspect vehicle was given to police, according to law enforcement.According to Assistant Chief James Fuller, many times crime like these are not solved; however, there is a lead on a suspect vehicle and hopefully a suspect will be apprehended. Fuller stated that in the past, many suspects have actually paid to replace mailboxes they have damaged. Police are continuing their investigation.

Monday, July 7
*2:10 PM – Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the law enforcement center regarding harassment. According to the report, a manager at the Budget Inn reported having serious difficulties with a longterm guest who verbally abuses guests and staff. This guest has threatened several staff members in the past, intimidating staff in a deliberate effort to harass them, the report states. The staff now fears for their safety, the manager reported. The manager brought a description of the abusive guest’s behavior which was signed by twelve employees of the motel.
*3:48 PM – Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the law enforcement center regarding harassment. According to the report, the complainant stated that her ex-fiancé had been harassing her. The complainant showed the officer 100 text messages sent from the ex-fiancé, many of which were of a vulgar and insulting nature, the report states. These texts had been sent between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. according to the report. These texts continued the next day as the complainant received another 100 texts from the ex-fiancé who had also been calling and threatening her since approximately 5:00 a.m. July 8th, the report states. The officer contacted the ex-fiancé/suspect who initially denied having made the calls and texts, but later admitted and agreed to stop calling the complaintant/victim.
*4:35 PM – Brownwood Police were called to Wal-Mart regarding theft. According to the report, loss prevention employees had a male and female detained in their office for shoplifting. This call led to a citation being issued to both the male and female for the offense of class C theft, the report states.
*10:57 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart regarding theft. As a result of this call, Debra Thomas was arrested for theft over $50 under $500, the report states.
*27-year-old Stephanie Ann Flores of Brownwood turned herself in on a warrant related to theft of property greater than $50 less than $500.
*The Brownwood City Marshal arrested 26-year-old Jamie Danielle Fulton of Brownwood related to driving while license invalid, failure to maintain financial responsibility and failure to appear.
*The Brownwood City Marshal arrested 23-year-old Lucinda Elaine Garcia of Brownwood on a warrant related to criminal trespass.
*The Brownwood City Marshal arrested 35-year-old Tina Jean Goble of Brownwood for criminal trespass.
*Brownwood Police arrested 56-year-old Gary Lee Maas on a warrant related to criminal trespass.
Tuesday, July 8
*3:24 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2300 block of 14th Street regarding the burglary of a habitation.
*Brownwood Police arrested 53-year-old Debra Jo Herndon Thomas of Brownwood for theft of property equal or greater than $50 less than $500.
